Please understand this is in no way a wind up. But thank you for giving us such an outstanding player. He is a real gem and you guys should be very proud of him.

There are many on the Brighton fans forum who say exactly the same.
In fact, he seems to have his own Connor Goldson Appreciation Society page!
Unfortunately, more than one on there also reckon we were 'mugged' for the fee. Crewe got £3 million for Powell.

I'm sure those nice Brighton people will realise that and send us another couple of million English pounds. ?

He'll be an England CB one day. Perhaps you could review the amount you paid us (screwed us) for him when we needed the money and felt he deserved to play at a higher level and had to move on then.....

Hope we stuck a cheeky £500,000 for promotion to prem league and another 500k for first international cap. Would be peanuts if you made it to the promised land! Glad he's doing well, a terrific product of our youth system.

Funny to recall how some Brighton fans questioned the signing at the time and thought he wouldn't get near the first team. We've had more than a couple of cases of that here this season! Goldson was great for us and was always going to be moving upwards. I hope he gets better and better. Easy to say now that we should have got more (as with Joe Hart) but there's no guarantee a young player will make the step up. We got a decent sum and hopefully that sell on clause will pay off before too long. The most annoying ones are those that slip through our fingers completely (Andre Gray), followed by those who develop beyond the potential they showed when they were with us (Marc Pugh, Tom Bradshaw). Such is life.

He is one young man who will always be an asset to whatever club he plays for and who knows one day his country.

I've heard from a Spurs supporting mate that Tottenham are looking closely at Connor as he develops in the Championship - they were rumoured to have had an interest when he was with us...any such rumblings coming out of the south coast? I'd like to think that we've got a deecnt sell-on clause added to the transfer deal...

Heard nothing about Tottenham, but it wouldn't be the first time they nick a CB off us. I don't remember what we paid you for him, but please be fair on this. We did take the gamble on a youngster (ish) who was stepping up a level. But he has absolutely shone and has great leadership qualities, but I'm just preaching to the converted so apologies. The fact he has stepped up means there is no doubt he can carry on stepping up. Him and Lewis Dunk have some 47 years between them, it is a great young set up we now have at the back. I hope you did get a clause but I can't see him going anywhere any time soon.

Certainly a sell on and some other add ons. Not sure what though, but even 10% might be pretty decent for town the way Connor is getting on.
And dont forget Woodsy!

Wonder if there's a promotion clause too? We're all Brighton fans if so!

I dont believe we were 'screwed'. Well not by the Brighton fan who has come on the board to praise one of our ex players

Chuffed for Connor.
My daughter lives in Brighton so get to go to the Ammex ( great stadium) a couple of times a year so really looking forward to seeing him play for them, fixture list permitting. Hopefully he will grace The Premiership with the seagulls but if not he certainly will with someone else

I remember chuckling to myself at a few negative comments from Brighton fans when he signed... They really had no idea what they were getting did they! A class act!

Not just a sell on but a sell on on the sell on - well that is something MW talked about being important when negotiating the the sale of players with potential to use their next club as a stepping stone to greater things. Let's hope it was not just baloney

Connor is doing brilliantly, but I wonder if Woods now feels he made the right choice of Club. Brentford are beginning to flirt with the relegation zone.

He sailed close to the relegation wind at Walsall once or twice before they became a force in League 1 (might be a lesson there for us) but I doubt Brentford will be so patient. He could be back at Walsall before long.

Can't see Brentford going down. They are 6 points ahead of Rotherham with a game in hand.
However, go to their fans forum and they aren't a happy bunch.

Not surprised, this was a play offs team a year ago. I'm sure they'll stay up but I think the pressure on Smith is that they were aiming a lot higher than that.

I'm loathe to disagree with Venceremos, but the potential of Pugh and Bradshaw was obvious.

I'm loathe to disagree with Venceremos, but the potential of Pugh and Bradshaw was obvious. I'm happy to be disagreed with! There was potential in both, I grant you, but nothing like Premier League potential in Pugh (to me at least). He was a 10 minute player with a powder puff shot - that's my recollection. I think he's developed well beyond the potential he showed with us. As for Bradshaw, he seemed to go from a raw talent with bags of potential to a good finisher lacking any real ability to influence the play. That's fine in a strong team but not so good for a team struggling to create chances. He's not yet gone beyond the potential he showed with us early on. It remains to be seen whether he can go beyond League 1, or more to the point, whether any higher placed clubs see that potential in him - I suspect he'll have to leave Walsall to do that. So yes, potential in both, and I'm glad they're doing well. I guess we just disagree on how much potential they showed when they were with us. [For the record, I thought Andre Gray showed a lot of potential in his brief first team forays here. I particularly remember him unsettling good Leicester defenders as they otherwise cruised to a 4-0 friendly win just after they'd won League 1. I'm not always wrong! ]

Connor is playing against Reading tonight.
The £4 million Chelsea loanee Michael Hector is in the Reading side. If he's valued at that amount, I wonder what Connor might fetch one day.
