There must be some pretty damming evidence for him plead guilty to some of the charges.

There must be some pretty damming evidence for him plead guilty to some of the charges. Think, IIRC, it wasn't really in much doubt that he committed the acts - all I heard was people saying the girl was 15 but looked/acted older. Don't know the facts in this case and sadly criticisms of the victims - although sometimes justified - seems to be increasingly a default response to these kind of things; of course the flipside is if someone does indeed look older and lies about their age (again, not suggesting that's the case here as I don't know the facts), is the older person expected to validate their age before commencing in any sexual activity? In danger of dragging this off-topic into murky waters so I do apologise! As for his career down the pan - I'd be surprised. He'll serve his time but as the highest level of player to, in my memory, be sentenced for such a thing I would expect a club somewhere in the football league to offer him a deal when he gets out.

I think his future all depends what happens in the trial.
The offences he's pleaded guilty to are different to those he's being tried for. If he's found not guilty in the trial then presumably he'll have a short and maybe even non-custodial sentence for the guilty plea offence of kissing (and 'grooming' - which may only mean that he stayed in touch with her via whatsapp after meeting in a club) a 15 year old. Pretty foolish behaviour nonetheless.
Football fans will, of course, be merciless, despite it hardly being Savilesque in its severity.
An interesting case.

His WAG is standing by him despite the fact he's pleaded guilty to 2 charges and that she was pregnant at the time he was involved with this girl. Abbey Clancy was also pregnant when Crouch cheated on her with a prostitute. She's still with him. Despite this:- www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/11594/Crouch-My-hell-with-bad-Abi. Can't say he didn't have his chance to ditch her. The list of WAGS that stand by their men is endless. I wonder why. However, in Ched Evans' case it would appear to be his girlfriend Natasha's wealthy father who has been bankrolling his appeal against conviction, so Evans should be grateful she's turned a blind eye to his indiscretion. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rapist-footballer-ched-evans-dossier-6611546Incidentally, the new statements gathered for Evans have been compiled by award-winning investigative journalist Don Hale, who helped Stephen Downing overturn his conviction after spending 27 years in jail (Wendy Sewell, "Bakewell Tart" murder) and also Barry George (Jill Dando murder). Downing was awarded £900k compensation. So that's just over £33k per year spent in prison. Hale has also done some further research on Jill Dando. Apparently shortly before her death in 1999 she was investigating the death of Matthew Harding, the vice-chairman of Chelsea who was killed in a helicopter crash. Harding in turn was a very good friend of Veronica Guerin, an Irish crime reporter murdered in 1996. Another line of investigation made by Hale suggests that Dando may have uncovered information about practices performed by certain members of the establishment and at the BBC. And according to Wiki, Don Hale was once on the books of Shrewsbury Town!

Not going too well for Johnson at the moment, but we've only heard the prosecution's side of things as yet.
Crucial testimony is clearly going to be that of the girl, and how well she stands up to cross examination.
