Has resigned after admitting that his paper was "hoaxed" and the pictures were fakes. Fair play to the guy, he was obviously taken in and paid the price. Good to see a man do the honourable thing rather than hide behind a veneer of excuses and misleading statements - Mr Blair, Mr Hoon?

He declined to aplologise so was forced to resign, nothing honorable about that although you have to say he is a man of his convictions.

A few hours late on that one!
And he was pushed kicking and screaming from the reports this morning.
Shame on him for not having the guts to face the press either.

Err....the game isnt over yet my friend, just because the evidence hasnt been shown to the world doesnt mean that it isnt there...For your information the entire United Nations Security Council BELIEVED that Saddam was developing nuclear and chemical weapons covertly, however, they didnt believe it was an immediate threat so resisted the invasion by coalition forces. History will show that we were correct to invade, rumour has it that the weapons were shipped to syria... And aprt from all that, i wasnt the one who sent them to fight a war in Iraq so i have nothing to apologise about, im certainly not apologising for a viewpoint.

A strange thought, but:
If people didn't buy national newspapers (I don't - on principle). These buffoons wouldn't be able to carry on like this and try to influence the whole nation just because the owners have a particular view on some things!

I have been boycotting the Sun and Mirror for years. I just hope others will follow suit, but I doubt it.

Are you a card carrying member of NAPAP (National Association for the Protection of Airborn Pigs)? No you weren't the one who sent them there, but how many of your posts, at the time, were concluded with the slogan "IN MY NAME"? - Guilty by association, methinks.

All I can say is that I'm much more afraid of the Blair/Bush combo than I ever was of a potential threat from saddam hussein..... enough to make you doubt evolution....
In terms of boycotting the papers as they all advocate a particular view, you might argue that the people who buy the papers in the first place buy the one whose view they agreee with, rather than buying a paper and being won over by its political stance.
I've been revising this all afternoon, at least I can kid myself that being on b&a is helping me prepare for my exam.... ;D

Thats a good point Amy, but i think supporting any of them is pretty poor to be honest.
I use the internet and radio to find out news these days

To be honest you take a chance wherever you get the news from, all media have political bias - BBC news, internet and radio is all self-regulating and at the end of the day operates under royal charter and is answerable to parliament. AOL news is part of AOL Time-Warner, the third largest media conglomerate in the world with the potential to air its political view to an audience of more than 1billion, 200million. I tend to read the Guardian online and watch channel4 & BBC news being the lefty sociology student that I am....

why did piers morgan get sacked over faked photos but no one in the government resigned over the first "dodgey dossier" - remember the one copied from a PHD student. I think the excuse was that even though they tried to pass it off as intelligence, the gist of it was correct...which is exactly what the Mirror are now claiming. Double standards again. Also, when people complain that the Mirror is putting our troops lives in danger ...lets remember who sent them on this folly in the first place.

Also, when people complain that the Mirror is putting our troops lives in danger ...lets remember who sent them on this folly in the first place. Cos all politicians, wether left right or centre tell lies. Its the nature of politics. Hands up anyone who is shocked to find out that we havent been told the truth by a government. The whole thing is a complete mess. Since the second world war I cant think of a single war that has been waged for a good reason. The Falklands was another good example. Our soldiers were killed for the sake of a barren god forsaken piece of rock in the south atlantic. Why? the truth eludes me, but I know Thatchers voter ratings shot up quite nicely before the general election. If people set thier minds to it, there would be no need for wars. But sabre ratling is too easy, especially when you have someone holding the sabre for you. The solution? Does anyone remember Frankie Goes to Hollywoods Two Tribes video, gorbachov and reagan having a fight in a ring. Great idea. Or even better, insist that when two countrys go to war, that there leaders have to lead them into battle on the front line. They would certainly put a bit more effort into the diplomatic route. Something Im curious about. Apparently, ( I could be wrong ) the fake pictures were taken at a TA camp up north. Have the people who the pictures been caught and charged.

You should all get your news from the Shropshire Star. You may not agree with it but at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you'd be helping to pay my wages...
