Guess how much the average ticket price was over the three football leagues last year (non premier). I was shocked by the amount. Enter your guess then look here Football League reveals average cost of tickets for 2014-15 - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34416023

As the divisions have the same amount of teams and therefore matches, wouldn't the three totals (which seem rather low incidently) divided by 3 give the overall average - which doesn't equal the quoted figure anyhow.
Edit: Actually as Championship gets bigger gates it'll have a higher weighting in the averages doh!

From the article: "The figures were calculated using adult and concessionary prices for season ticket holders, non-season ticket holders, corporate hospitality and away fans."
Given how cheap early-bird season ticket offerings can be (I'm thinking Bradford specifically here) they are surely going to drive down the average. The figures quoted in the article are misleading if the reader is thinking this is representative of an 'on the day' ticket price.

Purely having concessionary and on the day prices will drastically drop the 'average' price down.
If they based it on an average gate's worth of takings then fair play... However do we include the free under eights which cost 43.47p per home game into account?

It says these are the average ticket costs, not the average prices actually paid, which would factor in the numbers of people paying the various prices.
Theoretically it reads as though you could have £1 tickets available to anyone whose birthday was on match day and £25 tickets for everyone else. The average price would then be £13 but the average price actually paid would be about £24.99.
I'd find it hard to believe those are the average prices paid. If they are, I'm left wondering why I'm not in hospitality for the premium I've been paying!

All this shows is how figures and stats can be manipulated to convey a particular message.
According to those finding I'm paying below the average because I'm a season ticket holder. A casual fan is paying well over the average.
In short the article is a pile of e.

I were 11 pounds out. Bound to be some fairly decent prices kicking about at one or two clubs that could well bring the average down a fair bit. That has to be it. There is no way that the vast majority of fans are paying that to watch their football. Nooooo way...
