Good to see they won their appeal and finally got elected into the North West Counties League after the FA initially rejected their application as the Shropshire FA didn't support it... good luck to them next season!

I haven't been following this story - what exactly was the Shropshire FA's rationale for adopting that stance?

Knowing the F.A. possibly its something to do with the fact that Whitchurch isn't a port in whole or part and therefore they were breaking the trades description act bringing the game as a whole and particularly football in Shropshire into disrepute. That is my opinion but I will await official confirmation from the F.A. Thank you .

I'm not sure, for most of their history they have played in the Mid Cheshire League before moving to the Shropshire County League/Mercian Premier League a few years ago, maybe the Shropshire FA wanted them to take the route into the West Midlands Regional League as the vast majority of their promoted clubs do but given the geographical position of Whitchurch it probably makes more sense for them to join the NWCFL.

The Shropshire FA and Mercian League were protecting themselves from clubs on the border joining leagues outside the county. They had no leg to stand on as Market Drayton Tigers (Not the same club as Town) play in the Staffs League.
Ironically the Mercian League are apparently looking to recruit a team from Wolverhampton Uni for next season. Whether this is the Telford or Wolves campus remains to be seen.

And also Morda slapped the FA by going back to Wales from the Mercian League last Season.
