In my personal view i would like to see akpro sign his contract with the town but if he is going to plymouth then good luck to him.

I hope he signs for Plymouth. You'd think they'd be a little wary about signing a striker who has played for us after being landed with Morgan!

Nice bloke from what I've heard and was happy to drop into to primary and secondary schools to give support to languages.

Missed a few sitters but always gave 100%. Got some great goals too, (Newport) to pull us out of the doo doo. Good luck to him.

100% effort every game and scored some important goals. Unfortunately, he missed quite a few chances too and was not the player you'd want to see 1 on 1 with the 'keeper!
But all best wishes to him.

My language certainly found a few new words when he was in front of goal.

Have to say thank God we are going to get shot of him. Choice of him or Mangan? If he has refused to sign a new contract then he is doing us all a favour!! You would think that after signing Marvin they might have learned a lesson. With Reuben Reid scoring for The Green Army why would they want a donkey like AA on their books. That hat trick against Bury was such a fluke.

Wow, some pretty extreme comments. Considering most people loved the far inferior Morgan when he was here, it shows how we've improved I guess. Still, a useful player unless you think every striker has to score 20 goals a season and I wish him the best.

Well we have tried Barnett,Vernon, Mangan, AA with Collins and none have been a good pairing with Collins. Having said that the only player who wasnt dropped was Collins who, despite being the leading scorer was far from consistent but AA as Collins side kick missed far too may chances in front of goal.If they are going to get shot of a load of fringe players then AA has to go as well. Why offer him a brand new contract? There must be a lot of quality replacements who are as good as if not better and capable of playing in League 1.

He's a good option at League Two level and probably at League One too. He will never be the most clinical but offers plenty to a team at these levels.

If it was a choice of keeping him or Mangan, I would go for Mangan. However, don't forget this is the guy whose goal us to promotion and worked his socks off for the cause.

Difficult to compare JLAA and Mangan, both strikers but completely different players. I'd have JLAA in my squad every week, a real handful who chases lost causes and chips in with a few goals. I'd probably keep Mangan though largely unproven at League 1 level, not 100% sure...

I must admit that I wrote him off after the Luton game on Sky, yes no one played well that night but his performance was terrible, he couldnt control the ball, his hold up play was abysmal and it was generally he looked lacklusture.
However after that he did improve and put in some decent performances but for me he's still not consistent enough for L1 and I'd like to see better. The question of course is whether Mickey can bring in a decent L1 striker, something GT failed to do.

I believe Craig Davies is still available, though there are some fitness concerns about him.

im afraid with jlaa , he just does not have that little bit extra something that makes him a top stiker .the effort he puts in cant be denied and hes scored some good goals ,but I don't think he will ever be the type of striker who could do it week in week out

JLAA's record for the season of 9 goals in 26 starts (a few of which were out wide) is actually pretty good. He was also second in the assist chart, which is unsurprising given that he's a good team player.
I'd have liked to see him stay on. Apart from anything else he was the only man in the squad who could reliably dribble past people at pace. Our front line now looks very ponderous to me, so we need to hope that these new wingers work out, and that MM can bring in a replacement striker who's good with the ball at his feet.

I believe Craig Davies is still available, though there are some fitness concerns about him. I would like to see craig davies come in and have a trial with the town because in my personal view i think that he would be a good signing. The reason for this is that he made 30 appearances for bolton this season scored 7 goals picked up just 2 yellow cards but did not pick up any red cards.

He's underrated for me.
As Micky said, if he could finish he would be playing in The Championship.
If he does go then he has to be replaced by someone with a bit of pace.
I'd like to see him stay, he's a nightmare to defend against and can bring others into the game. Vernon is the striker we need to let go.

I too will be sad to see him depart. Loved his attitude and work rate. Always gave 100% and easy to see why MM trusted him Not the most clinical of strikers of course. If he was he'd be plying his trade in the Championship.
The lad played a big part in our promotion last season and for that I'll be ever grateful.

Decent player and a decent pro.
We did better with him than Tranmere did without him.
I'd suggest he's gone because Barnett is the future for that type of player.

Our other strikers records :-
Vernon - Games 255 Subs 131 Goals 87 Goals per game 0.22 Barnett - Games 136 Subs 41 Goals 47 Goals per game 0.26 Collins - Games 164 Subs 45 Goals 64 Goals per game 0.30 Mangan - Games 181 Subs 116 Goals 94 Goals per game 0.31
Puts Akpro's figures into perspective. Most of us want Vernon out, and he's got a better record!
And what's this nonsense about red and yellow cards?

Goals per game seems to be about 0.30 for a good lower league striker.
e.g. Bury - Lowe 0.30, Pope 0.28, Clarke 0.28, Nardiello 0.30, Rose 0.25.
0.16 seems well below the benchmark.
