Our other strikers records :- Vernon - Games 255 Subs 131 Goals 87 Goals per game 0.22 Barnett - Games 136 Subs 41 Goals 47 Goals per game 0.26 Collins - Games 164 Subs 45 Goals 64 Goals per game 0.30 Mangan - Games 181 Subs 116 Goals 94 Goals per game 0.31 Puts Akpro's figures into perspective. Most of us want Vernon out, and he's got a better record! And what's this nonsense about red and yellow cards? Shrewsfan posts about it all the time.

We actually dissected Vernon's goal scoring stats this week in work. Not too shabby really but the bulk of his goals came pre 2012. Think he's netted 10 in his last 80 odd matches over the last three seasons. Quite a drop off but makes his pre-2012 record all the more impressive.

Is reaching double figures of league goals in just three seasons and never reaching 15 all that impressive?

im afraid with jlaa , he just does not have that little bit extra something that makes him a top stiker .the effort he puts in cant be denied and hes scored some good goals ,but I don't think he will ever be the type of striker who could do it week in week out No lower league striker do it week in week out. Not many Championship and Premiership strikers do either. Yes JLAA missed chances that he should have scored from, especially on a couple of 1 on 1 situations, but his goal every three games is still a good ratio these days... and I guarantee that whoever the striker is who we sign will have a worse strike rate than that. Unless of course it's Mangan. AA also pinpointed some perfect assists and I say thank you Jean-Louis for being part of our promotion side.

No one is suggesting that Vernon is a goal machine Lenny but his goal ratio stacks up in comparison vs other good lower strikers. Vernon offers more flexibility than most and was often played as a midfielder by Craig Brown at Aberdeen. I think he was brought in originally to act as a foil to Collins but that combo seemed destined to fail.

Have to say thank God we are going to get shot of him. Choice of him or Mangan? If he has refused to sign a new contract then he is doing us all a favour!! You would think that after signing Marvin they might have learned a lesson. With Reuben Reid scoring for The Green Army why would they want a donkey like AA on their books. That hat trick against Bury was such a fluke. WTF? Yes, his finishing wasn't the best but calling him a donkey and saying the 3 goals against Bury were flukes is a bit over the top. No wonder you've got no mates.

Wow, some pretty extreme comments. Considering most people loved the far inferior Morgan when he was here, it shows how we've improved I guess. Still, a useful player unless you think every striker has to score 20 goals a season and I wish him the best. I think that just goes to show the differance between now and then. Although Akpro is better than Morgan, Morgan was maybe the best striker we had at the time.
