Apparently Josh Passley didn't make their squad because he turned up 25 minutes late. Still that was about 70 minutes earlier than his team mates!

Joey Barton was there as a guest of a town player and he rated Lawrence very highly and said were a very good side on Twitter

Hartlepool out of bottom 2, Town must finish in top half, luton lose once again. Flawed logic from you yet again I'm afraid mate! We were guaranteed of a top half finish a little while ago now, your flaky maths assumes both teams can take 3 points from matches they play against one another! I'm afraid it is your logic that is flawed, there are a set of results that would allow each of the 12 top teams to achieve 74 points unlikely but possible. As for my flaky maths pit my maths knowledge against yours any day. As Ed said to David any time any place. Maybe you should not take things to seriously

I'll stick to incontrovertible facts and my rarely exceeded liquid gold reserves.

Very accomplished away performance - one of the best I've seen for a long time- at a difficult ground. Kept the home fans quiet most of the time. Woods, Lawrence and Grant were the standout performers. Defence rock solid on a difficult day with the conditions and the front players kept Portsmouth on their toes. So many horrible dismal days at Fratton Park it was nice to get the train back into Portsmouth and hear the home fans moaning!

Well done to the town on their 2-0 win over Portsmouth yesterday.

A thoroughly dominant and confident display against disappointing opponents.
Just a handful of random thoughts:
1. How much of a factor was the strong wind?
Certainly Lawrence chose to play with it first half, and that must have helped us take our grip on the game. The strength of it seemed to fade in the second half when, after the first few minutes, we bossed things again.
It was also interesting to see how we switched corner takers after LL's first one, so that we were doing in-swingers rather than our usual away-swingers, and they looked very dangerous. Our corners have been productive for a couple of months now, so it was slightly disappointing that we didn't score from any of them.
2. Why 4 strikers on the bench?
It's a genuine question. I'm sure MM must have his reasons, but I would have thought it lessens his options for changing things if he doesn't have, say, a specialised winger or a creative midfielder in reserve.
However this is the third game running he's done it, and it hasn't made a difference. Yet.
3. Lawrence's return.
I don't think it was a coincidence that we only won 1 of the 5 games he was injured. Yes, there were 3 other important players out as well, but his injury was the straw that sprained the team's spine. His work in union with Ryan Woods is superb.
4. No song for Mark Ellis.
It was slightly embarrassing at the end when we sang special songs for each player that came to applaud us, but then were struck dumb when Ellis appeared. He may not be the flashiest light on the dashboard, but his performances have been solid, consistent and occasionally invaluable.
Alright, we may not have songs for our wing-backs either. We could have some fun with a name like Demetriou. How about " demetree-ooooooooooooo" in the style of "Rooooooooooooot" in Cricket?
5. Micky's celebration with us afterwards.
Great moment, and wonderful to see such passion from our manager.

His names Mark Ellis and he's number 5. His names Mark Ellis and he's number 5. Everyone needs a nutter in the middle, everyone needs a nutter in the middle.
Crewe Alex fans had this one for him to tune of Brim full of Asha.

So many horrible dismal days at Fratton Park it was nice to get the train back into Portsmouth and hear the home fans moaning! a real sense of a brilliant professional job done in regards to us being a strong defensive unit, digging in and not allowing Pompey to get into the game. An away win is always an enjoyment, but the win on Saturday has that extra bit of satisfaction because it is rare that we win or get a point along the South coast. I felt we were back to our what we're good at...keeping the ball, strength in defence, quality finishing, controlling the game and plenty of guts to get the three points.
