Shrewsbury visit Portsmouth on Saturday who have been pretty sound at home. indeed they have earned 14 points out of the last 6 home games.
home results ------------------- drew chelt 2-2 beat luton 2-0 drew oxford 0-0 beat tranny 3-2 beat Exeter 1-0 beat h/pool 1-0
goals for 44 against 42 gd 2
top scorers Wallace m/f 12, taylor striker 8. tubbs striker 6.
other games of note. ----------------------- Friday- Accrington v Newport Saturday ----------- bury v Southend Dagenham v Wycombe Northampton v luton
Monday ==== burton v Stevenage.
following tonight's result of Wycombe winning 3-2 at luton the league is as follows, every club played 38
burton 76 town 71 wobbs 71 -------- bury 67 s/end 63 luton 58 n/port 58 ===== closely followed by argyle 57, Stevenage 57 and Exeter 54.
town will do well to get a point at pompey, 3 points will be a real bonus. as 4 teams are now in real competion for 3 places, we must hope town have had their wobble. I go 1-1. FS COYB

Pubs shut early down your neck of the woods or have you decided to have a night in?

Really concerned about this one - I'm a big believer in grounds that we have a really dire record on, Ponpey being one of them. If you offered me a point now I'd snap your hand off.
Good to see Bury playing Southend - just hope for a Southend win here,

I'm relying on the Lawrence factor! If there's 1 league 2 club he'd want to lead his team to a win at it's Pompey

eh up Billynomates, how close you were. I had just come in from my legion club after a pint and saw that Wycombe had beaten luton away so I posted this thread.

My prediction is Portsmouth 0-0 Shrewsbury Town. Doesn't look as though they concede too many at home does it. Four clean sheets from the last six at home. Might not be a bad shout that prediction. I think we'll get at least a point. Again having Lawrence back will be the key going into this fixture. Knows the place, will be looking to impress, he'll have a decent game in the middle and see us take at least a point. I think he'll revel in it come Saturday.

If we go to Portsmouth and play a defensive tactic we will get beat, no doubt about it. We need to put them under pressure from the start and try and get an early goal so that we are dictating the game!

We need to go there and be positive. We're a better team and their season is over. Obviously that means they have a certain freedom which could be dangerous.

They have a big crowd so an early goal or two would shut them up or maybe even get them on their backs.

when they played here we beat them comfortably, they was organised and hard working but lacked quality I don't know who they have signed since then but I wouldn't take much notice of there recent home form it was hardly against tough opposition.

we must not be over awed by a middle placed league 2 club. Pompey are a faded magnificence of what they were. bankrupt twice and lucky to still be in the league,
town have a better defence, midfield and attack and need to get out there tomorrow with an early goal to settle any nerves.v our league position and Vastly improved Goal Difference should pre warn Pompey they face an awkward game.

A large and vocal home crowd may not be the only thing Salop will up against tomorrow. For 45 minutes of the game, anyway.
The weather forecast is for very strong wind (46 mph) from the west.
I hope MM and the lads are prepared for this. How to play with a wind like that, and how to play against it....

Watching bbc news last night saw Portsmouth players and managers talking about today's game. (Came down Friday! )
They were spouting big physical team and robust league 2 stuff..no credit for most of the seasons ability to outplay and pass the ball. Might give them a surprise if we pass the ball and not lump it up to Tyrone!

I fear todays result may be a weather lottery , my junior managerial experience says we need an early goal and to hit pompey whenever and wherever we can!!
come on you Blues soon be summer. 1 more push, heave town. FS and fast decision making, the man says.

Quite windy down here in Pompey this morning, with a few rain clouds hovering as well. Hopefully it'll have cleared come 3pm!
