Excellent night for Salop. Just love those late winners. Almost makes up for one of my fave away days on a Tues night.
Great also to hear Nick Southall giving huge praise to our young lads who won at Telford tonight. Reckons they could do worse than snap a few up on loan. The offer has been made....

Need to kick on and win against an out of form Cambridge on Saturday now - they have lost 5 out of the last 8. Burton away at Hartlepool, with Wycombe a tricky game against Southend.
Then it's Town at Wycombe, could do with a draw down there too

Well done to Bobby Grant for kicking on after his pretty awful last few appearances. A superb attitude to keep grafting away and finally produce the goods.

Great display from our lads, in BOTH games. We are top of the league, we have Juan the cup!
It's never easy at Accy. I love the club, but I certainly wanted to win tonight.
Just as an aside, did any Juan else notice the face like a smacked arse on the diabolical Paul Simpson coming off the field at Brighton? I did, and I replayed it twice!

Real guts to dig that result out given recent form and key injuries. Especially pleased for Bobby G and hopefully that will really build his confidence back up after a poor run Also MM's comments early season about a first team squad rather than first team has really been born out over recent weeks. Top the league again- now let's stay there!

We perhaps lack a bit of quality at times especially in the opposition penalty box, but boy does this team never give up. So good to see us winning games late on and have that belief to keep playing right to the end
Got to the point you almost expect the late equaliser or winner now, and despite playing badly on Saturday we nearly rescued that one too.
Nice comfortable 2.0 win Saturday with goals in the first half would be fine though!!

Pointing out the bleedin obvious, but that is a big, big result. On 86mins we were looking at 1 point in 3 games, drop to third with a resurgent Bury on our arises and still to play. Not only are we 6 points clear of the playoffs but turned the screw on Burton too.

Scrappy game but we dominated second half.
Leutwiler pulled off a brilliant double save to keep us level too.
Gayle,Clark,Barnett and Collins all under performed.
Grandison was an absolute rock and didn't lose anything all game.
Woods and Grant looked lively and tried to play good football.
Goldson pulled off a great last ditch tackle to prevent a goal too.
Pretty average performance but Accy never got a shot in the second half and we were the only team that looked like scoring.

Was bloody cold on that terrace, hope it gives fans who didn't go a good insight though. I'll add Demetriou did some good running up the left and Akpa-Akpro looked twice the player of Barnett. Ellis looked solid at the back too. All in all, first half we hoofed it too much , second half we started playing our game and looked like the only team to win it.

Don't disagree with much of that Foz, except that I thought Clark had quite a tidy game, showed some really good touches and contributed plenty.
Got to say for £20 quid and a fiver for the young'n it's about time Accy sorted out some sort of shelter so at least you can get a few minutes respite to eat your chips at half time... Wet through and fkin freezing! Worth it for that final header though, well worth it!

Just back, don't think I've ever been as cold at a football match in the 25 years I've been following Salop. Even eclipsed Dagenham & Redbridge in that blizzard one year. Anyway who cares, the win soon helped thaw me out (and the car heating).
Thought we deserved the win tonight and looked more comfortable reverting to 3-5-2 though a little toothless up front. Thought woods was excellent first half but drifted out the game second half. Stupid penalty to conceded and for a player who saw a lot of the ball in accys half tonight Gayle was so rabbit in the headlights going forward.
Thought Ellis and Grant excellent and let's not forget the our keepers save first half and Connors last ditch block tackle. They could of gone 2-1 up

I think we should give the whole team credit for the way they ground out a result on a pitch that was difficult to play on in the second half. I couldn't believe the amount of negative comments aimed at individual players who were trying to play football and trying to create chances. I can only imagine that these were from people who had never played the game or if they have have forgotten how hard it is to play with any purpose on a pitch as treacherous as it was after the downpour at half-time.
Bobby Grant will probably take the MotM plaudits as his goals were crucial. Special mention should go to JLAA, Jayson Leutwiler and Connor who all made telling contributions. But as stated the whole team deserves credit for the way that they kept going until the bitter end in foul conditions.

another great late win from Town, gone top, and Newport southend and luton lose ground. we are top and still have 2 of our best players in reserve when fit. well done our youth last night. strength in depth indeed.
it is pleasing to note our home opposition on Saturday, Cambridge utd got thumped 3-0 at home to York.
Floreat Salopia to both Prides of Shropshire.

Too cold to write anything when I got back last night (as cold as I've been at town game for a long time). 300 Town fans who made the trip deserve free entry to a game for with standing hail, rain and sub artic temps.
Anyway, how we needed that win. It was a game short on quality and we laboured in the final third. Not much to suggest we are promotion candidates except the priceless ability to grind out a result. Plus points were: that we looked more solid at the back with the 5-3-2 formation; we tried to pass the ball rather than lumping it forward; Grant looked much better than in the previous month. Downsides were the lack of quality in the final third - too many crosses straight at the keeper, Barnett and Collins were poor. Barnett needs to work much harder than that. It says something that we looked much more dangerous with JLAA on the pitch. He deserves to start ahead of Barnett on saturday. We still lack a RWB Gayle just looks hesistant and gives the ball away to cheaply, his foull for the penalty was soft and pointless. What's the point of Randall btw?
Hopefully we can kick on now.

I didn't go to the match, opting instead to view the bbc live updates from the comfort of my settee with some codeine and a lovely mug of hot milk!
What struck me though was the amount of attention Grant was getting, seemed almost every update involved Bobby Grant, a shot, won a free kick, free kick taken by..... certainly seemed to have got past his dip in form and fair play to him!

John Coleman's interview: heart rending. The tribulations of trying to run a decent club on 900 gates. I really hope they now have a good run of results.

Barnett and Collins were both poor but was Barnett any worse than Collins? I forgot Collins was on the pitch at times. Its interesting how its never his fault either, he's a younger Jemson in regards to how much he moans, and if he channelled the energy he put into moaning on his effort working for team instead he'd add another 10% to his game. As for Barnett, his use of the ball lacked quality but he was more involved and put himself about more. I think the problem with Barnett is lacking match fitness and I even think it could be next season before we really bennefit from him with a full pre season under his belt.

Agree about Collins - one of the worst games I've seen him play. I suppose he has credit in the bank which is why we let him off sometimes. His touch last night was awful and he really didn't get in the game. He spends a lot time moaning at teamates or officials. Overall, he just looks out of touch and frustrated at the moment. However, we know what he can do. I think Barnett could be asset - when I've seen him previously I've thought he was direct, strong and awkward to play against - last night though his work rate was lacking - it looked as if he was strolling through much of the game (Accy is not a place for strolling).
