MW mentioned on the commentary last night that he thought Barnett wasn't fully fit when he came here.

Veniceramos, When a bread and butter ball gets played up to you chest height and it bounces off and an opponent nicks the ball then being vocal is out of order when you're moaning the pass was "too hard". F me he's built like a brick s**thouse.

If we are targetting our own players for moaning than Collins has to win hands down. The one game he was constantly having a go at Mandron, hardly a confidence booster for a young lad who had just signed for the club

To me it's out of order to pass judgment on the way they communicate with each other - that's got stuff all to do with us. And if he's built like a brick s***house it's no wonder the ball bounces off him!

Help your team mates out and they'll help you. For example - and it is a big IF.....Tramere away we had a great chance early on where Collins went for goal when instead he had Barnett, Lawerence and Vernon available to square the ball to and a better chance of scoring. The three players mentioned very keen to add to their goal tally for the season and had they scored, the game could of opened up and who knows a chance could of come Collins way to score the second goal. Others have provided assists for Collins but he rarely returns the favour...the only goal i can think of is when he crossed it in for JLAA at home to Burton.

After today's debacle in which we played like Duncan Ferguson was playing for us, I am concerned about the signing of Barnett. What's wrong with Duncan Ferguson!??
Very effective forward and highly regarded by Everton fans.
We've plenty of naff strikers in our recent past, Gayle, Freestone, Stallard, Eames, Banim, Bright, Elder etc...............Barnett would run rings around them.

personally I am more concerned about the Barnett formula and its affect on Wales. just give our striker Barnet a little time. already scored on 1st outing. we are top of the league dammit. what more do you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Official site said 4 to 6 weeks in early Feb, so hopefully he won't be too far off.

From just before the Northampton game in the Shropshire Star - it was about two weeks - so at least another week from now (if my maths are correct!!) "Mangan who is now doing some straight running. We expect him to be another two weeks away but we are optimistic on that one" www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/02/25/mickey-demetriou-gives-shrewsbury-huge-boost/So maybe in and around the Wycombe game he could be on the bench? Or possibly for Oxford at home?

I'm not sure what his goals per minute ratio is (obviously far better than anyone else at the club), but it will certainly make a difference having someone prolific in the team.

Think I am more concerned about how Collins has gone off the boil, and would be nice to see him take a rest on Tuesday night. Also more concerned about the lack of composure on Vernon who is supposedly the best finisher at the club.

I had urged people to give him time to settle in and form a partnership with Collins before judging him.
But, having seen him for the first time today...... wow.
What is he all about? Lazy, disinterested, first touch as if he had a slab of concrete on his boot and never jumps for a header.
He wasn't the only player to have a shocker but that was woeful from Barnett.

And yet he's on the teamsheet in indelible ink every game. He should be fighting for his place.

He certainly looks like a man who is not worried about being left off the team sheet - Mangan replacing him and winding him up a bit could be the kick up the arse he looks like he could do with. I cannot imagine that Roland is looking at him as the best investment since Holt - anyone know how much we paid for him ? Also imagine the loan fee for Southern is not being seen as cash well spent !

Whatever combination's up front something needs to change along with Liam Lawrence back into midfield until the end of the season hopefully, and a miracle of Wesolowski returning or a similar player in on loan
I would also be bold and give this lad Rhys Sharpe a go in defence, because I am still of the opinion that it's since the loss of NKP we have not looked the same defensive unit and this lad whilst inexperienced will bring fresh verve...even if it's only from the bench at Morecambe if things are not going well!
Confidence has been shaken and we desperately need to get back to winning ways because if we end up in the play offs I fear for us!

In my opinion i would like to see JLAA given a start at Morecambe and Barnett dropped to the bench.

Turner quite rightly got a lot of stick for not signing a striker of note in the previous two seasons, but if Barnett is anything to go by you can see why he was cautious to pay a fee for a player.
I'm hoping Barnett comes good but aside from his first game I'm struggling to see what he brings to the side. If we were playing with two wingers and pinging balls into the box I think he'd be more effective, but currently he just doesn't complement our style of play at all
Bit worrying we seem to have paid decent money and given a long contract to a player whose having little impact on our promotion push

I think Barnett actually wins more long high balls than any other striker in recent times and distributes them well, the problem is the rest not being in tune with his style of play.....
I would start Barnett and JLAA so that Barnett can lay-off to JLAA against Morecambe an rest Collins

Not hard to see why Peterborough couldn't wait to get rid of Barnett. He seems to find it hard to control the ball, keeps falling over, has limited pace and keeps miss placing simple passes. Must be dropped for Tuesday.

most people have been having a pop at Barnett and MM's purchase. fair play tonight he scored his second, albeit late, but the lad was part of the team that thumped Morecambe away. well done, credit where credit is due.
Too many Mr Growsers on here. welcome Mr Barnett, welcome to Shrewsbury Town and Thank you from Devon!
