I'm also no lover of United, but it was a clear penalty for me. Not really any different than Collins against Stevo - little or no contact but had to take evasive action to avoid being clobbered by a reckless challenge. Penalty all day long in my book, and in both cases the offending player should be thankful that the " dive" saved them from getting a red. Good point. Was it a penalty , was Rooney obstructing the goalie? Or are views expressed based on the players or team involved. As SIJ says, the award of the penalty was very similar to the one awarded to us for the challenge on Collins. On the Rooney causing an obstruction goal , the goalie had a clear view of the ball which should have been his main consideration. If Rooney had touched it then he should know that then, and only then, would Rooney be deemed " active" and therefore offside. IMO change Man Utd for ,say, Southampton or Swansea and the problems seem to go away,. Move on Son, nothing to see here. ( and I ****in despise The s**t)

So Rooney was not interfering with play in his offside position?! Errrrrrrrrrrr no he wasn't as admitted by Grayson in his after match interview "the boys were looking for a reason not to give the goal but having seen it Rooney was NOT interfering" I've not had a look at the highlights again, I watched the match live... But as the ball comes in does Rooney not make an effort to avoid it, and the keeper momentarily looks towards him? In this scenario, which I think I saw, he is therefore offside as he is making a movement which distracts the keeper. And I'm a neutral. Couldn't care less who won. So my interest in this is based on whether the officials dropped a clanger. No hidden agendas here!

A point conceded by PNE manager Grayson during his post match interview, who initially thought that Rooney was guilty of interference but having viewed the replay was happy that the goal should stand

A point conceded by PNE manager Grayson during his post match interview, who initially thought that Rooney was guilty of interference but having viewed the replay was happy that the goal should stand David Preece agrees with me. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ander-herreras-goal-against-preston-5177549Rooney’s position AND evasive action directly affects Stuckmann’s actions and reactions in dealing with the shot. In fact, I’d say his avoidance of being struck by the ball makes him just as active as if it did touch him. The ball has affected him more than any other player at that moment, making him the most active man on the pitch at that precise moment. This isn’t a case, as has been pointed out in the FA rulebook, of a player yards wide of the goal who is affecting nothing but the blades of grass he’s standing on. I have no doubt, if it were not for Wayne Rooney being stood in that position, Stuckmann would have parried the ball away with comfort.
