So Rooney was not interfering with play in his offside position?!

So Rooney was not interfering with play in his offside position?! If anything ever illustrated how ridiculous the rule is, then that is it!!!

So Rooney was not interfering with play in his offside position?! Correct decision in my opinion, Rooney was not in the keeper's line of sight and did not touch the ball.

I don't see how he isn't influencing the decision making of the goalkeeper in that position, hence, although the rules allow, to me he MUST be interfering with play.

Not in the keeper's eyeline and doesn't touch it so you would think it's a goal.
I personally think the keeper anticipates it taking a deflection off Rooney, which delays him making the save.

Then he a dive , can't believe more hasn't been made of it .

The keeper was bound to be distracted because he could not be sure whether the balding, fat lad was going to deflect the ball past him. The fact that he may be offside would not enter the keeper's head in that split second. Criminal decision making for the penalty - mainly by the keeper going in feet first. You wear gloves for a reason, that being that you are allowed to use your hands. Dive at his feet, not slide at his feet. The ref also got it wrong but United players are skilled at winning penalties, I thought that was why the brought Young on.

Blatant dive . Regardless of what the keeper did - no contact !!

I am no Man Utd fan, but that was a clear penalty!
Regarding the first, the rules need to be changed to include interfering with play!

It looked a dive but also clearly a pen - you don't have to touch an opponent to commit a foul.

I'm also no lover of United, but it was a clear penalty for me. Not really any different than Collins against Stevo - little or no contact but had to take evasive action to avoid being clobbered by a reckless challenge. Penalty all day long in my book, and in both cases the offending player should be thankful that the " dive" saved them from getting a red.

No Manure lover myself , far from it , but funny that no -one mentions Kevin Davies' second bookable offence which surely should have warranted a red card .
Just saying in the interests of a balanced discussion .
Come on Arsenal !
