Very unlikely I would have thought as he was sacked by Barnsley as Asst manager
"On 19 March 2014 Barnsley sacked Micky Mellon. A club statement read: "Barnsley Football Club has (on Wednesday) terminated the employment of assistant manager Micky Mellon and goalkeeping coach Ian Willcock with immediate effect. "The club would like to place on record its thanks to both Micky and Ian for their service and wish them all the best for the future."[24]

Mmmm interesting. Not really sure being sacked means he is out of the picture to be honest, would depend on why he was sacked. Might have been just to trim the fat and reduce the wage bill. Sure someone will ask him about this anyhows and put any rumours to rest. Hopefully anyhows. I doubt its gone unnoticed what he has done at Town. But anyhows, just in case he's looking in...stay Micky, you know it makes sense...

Can't see him going anywhere at the moment - at least I hope not or my judgement of someone will have taken a huge battering.
I don't think Barnsley will ask him anyway. He's been there, done that, and they weren't happy. So blow them!!!!!

Unless a Premier League side or his boyhood hero's whoever that might be come in for him I would be amazed if MM left at the moment. Fantastic chance to put a Championship title on his c.v. and then to follow it up with a top half finish after promotion. He currently has a Chairman who appears prepared to back what he wants why would he want to move now?

I'd be surprised if MM was interested in going anywhere at the moment. Of course he will be ambitious if the right club came knocking at the right time, but I'd guess he will enjoy working for a Chairman who appears to support him with funds and quite likely just lets him get on with the job the way that he wants to do it. There aren't too many Chairmen like that to work for in football these days.

You can usually gage speculation from the clubs messagebosrd and local rag. MM is not even mentioned. I think that says it all... In fact Barnsley's local paper has an article on favs for the job and he's not featured in that either

Micky's built a squad full of his own players, currently on course to get a promotion on his CV and has a chairman who is prepared to back him.
Can't see it happening.
It's Blackpool I'm looking at, played a lot of games there and lives in the area. If they get relegated and they sack Clark, he would be an ideal candidate for them.

As he probably (hopefully) reminds the players every week, he's " done" nothing yet.
He "is doing" a great job for us but the test of his achievement will be whether or not we're promoted. Still a third of the season to go ...

He could be caught up in the aftermath of villa,s new manager. My spies tell me the director of football of jersey, Brian little is amongst the longshots

I suspect that Matt Williams would be able to dissuade MM from working for Oyston...

Can't see Mellon going anywhere just yet. As good as this season has gone we've not achieved anything yet. I think a league one or championship side would like to see a little more success on the cv before approaching us to offer Mellon a job
On the flip side of that we're in a pretty stable position in a set up Mellon seems to enjoy working in, with plenty of potential to bring us success and add to his CV
Ideally he will leave us in 4-5 seasons time cemented as a Championship side, to take up a higher level post. Been a long time since a Salop manager left for better things rather than getting sacked for it all going wrong

I expect Mr Mellon's has started something that he would like to see through at STFC.
Barnsley are not going to interrupt.

He's been in the job 5 minutes and is managing a club with a budget that should see it where it is, he hasn't yet suffered a blip and it is this and how he handles it that will see him getting noticed.
Also will he be able to surpass expectation ? And it seems to take an age for a good L2 manager to get recognised these days such as Gary Rowett and Justin Edinburgh.

I don't think MM will go anywhere yet. As MM has built this team and culd from what it was when he started, he'll want to see his project though. There were only 5 players and no backroom staff when he started and a chairman willing to back him. For many a manager that's a dream come true.

I thought the overall aim last season, and re- iterated from meetings held between the club and supporters, was to stabilise the club in League 1 and build our balance sheet back up to the £1 million mark. We have dropped a division, are now playing to reduced crowds and have virtually built a new team from scratch. How much the wages for these players takes out of the kitty each week must be a fair bit.
So, where is this £2 million plus 5 new players coming from.?

Maybe the old boy is referring to transfer fees for Woods, Goldson and a couple of others.
