Seen akpra Akpro 's goal. Impressed with maintaining possession and confidence to go for goal from tight angle. Just need similar composure more often like winner home to Burton and hat trick v bury

It was certainly good to see JLAA running at players with the goal in mind... aka Mangan's first against 'Pools. But the Newport center back... Jones, was it?... must rue not hoofing the ball into row F when he had the chance. Why he tried to control the ball was a mental aberration.
Mind you the sometimes overused expression "from an impossible angle" was not hyperbole in this case. Well done Jean Louis.
The last time I saw a goal from a tighter angle than yesterday was when Sussex CC had won the County Championship in 2003 and did a lap of honour at a Brighton home match at their old Withdean stadium.
Sussex's Pakistani spinner, Mushtaq Ahmed, who had taken 100 wickets in the season, fancied himself as a footballer, and laid a bet for charity, that he could score from the corner flag... without defenders of course.
Although normaly a leggie, he the corner from the left with his right foot, floated the ball in for a perfect "off-break" that turned sharply and found the centre of the net with a couple of bounces, to a big roar from the crowd. In fact if I remember rightly it was the biggest roar that night!

8 and a half minutes of highlights from the Newport Youtube Channel.
It shows JL doing some very good work between the sticks.. and that the offside goal was clearly offside.
I notice that Newport's channel has loads of extended highlights... something it would good if we emulated.

Shocked they've found that many highlights.
Been to many away games where it's been scrappy like that and we've walked off with 0 points, nice to be on the other end of it for once.
Nowhere near our best but 3 points and that's all that matters when we lift the title at the end of the season.

Horrible conditions yesterday for the players, wasn't good for the fans either, in fact my testicles have just ventured back out this afternoon! Not sure how many away fans but would venture a guess at 800. Having never been to Newport before I am glad to tick this one off the list, but why couldn't it have been April or September. Makes you wonder about the imbalance in the game and how the fat cats take the lions share of the kitty ( get it!). The distribution of revenue is unfair across the game and I can understand why clubs like Newport have to combine their resources with other sports, not sure that their pitch was much worse with the egg-chasers than ours without the extra heavyweight traffic. Enjoyed watching back the highlights in the vid this time without frozen tears in my eyes. How come JLAA's goal didn't figure in Sky's goal of the day yesterday! It would have won it. Thought Ellis was immense yesterday, won everything and pulled Goldson out of it twice, his covering tackle when he tried fancy instead of just clearing it and dragging him away from the mallee so he only got a yellow instead of something worse. Woods was busy but as others say he is a watched man now and the sign of a good player is he can raise his game to still stand out even with the special attention. He is developing but isn't yet the final item for me, needs to be stronger and smarter now.

Acutually really enjoyed my trip down to the 'Port.
ALot to be said for away games at Town centre grounds - all the newport fans we met seemed likeable and chatty.

His whole game on Saturday was superb. As others have said MOM.

Regarding the pitch, looking from the covered stand before kick off, it looked fine. Once the game started however, it was far from fine. A simple five yard pass along the ground would bobble and leave the surface at it's own accord, thus making the receiving player look a bit silly when it bobbled over his foot. That may be why Newport were so keen to take the aerial route.

The John Wallace Lindon and The Riverside pubs were fine but The Lamb was a different story for some!

Extended Highlights
I noticed that Hartlepool also posted 10 minutes or so from our game 2 weeks ago, which they must have have got from STFC.
Many months ago, ShrewsPlayer were putting similar extended highlights on, but no more. Could there have been a change of policy? Are they concerned that fans might not pay to watch all 90 minutes of action if they know the10 best minutes will be available online?

We drank up and left as soon as they started pilling in.
