After 6 months of misery commuting daily to Telford, it now seems there is light at the end of the tunnel.
But my heart sank when I saw the dreaded traffic lights in situ for installation.
Now I recall the traffic lights being the root cause of delays on the Emstrey island prior to the `improvements'commencing. When the lights were ripped out the island ran like a dream.
So do we feel that the 6 months of hell will be worthwhile, orwill we back at square one?

Based on previous schemes I imagine the new layout and lights will work perfectly and the public will shower the Highways Agency with praise for the work
Probably.
The section coming down from London Road to the island seems to have a third lane now which should help filter traffic going left to Telford. It's the traffic going straight on to the Atcham road that's always been the tricky one to navigate, so be interesting to see if that's improved

They said they'd monitor the lights at both roundabouts and review the timings later.
I wish they'd review the pedestrian crossing light on Telford Way. It causes a huge tailback when it is activated and backs up to Crowmere road roundabout. If the increased the time between activations it would allow traffic to flow.

Traffic lights and islands is NEVER a good combination - living in Telford I should damn well know

My dad told me that TDC had planned a Western Primary in Telford which they foolishly never got around to.

My dad told me that TDC had planned a Western Primary in Telford which they foolishly never got around to. Indeed - still follows the intended route up past Tescos, Lawley & Horsehay. They just chose to make it a bog standard road with other road joining on along the way, probably because it is easier to install bloody traffic lights everywhere (traffic 'management' at its very worst)

It doesn't matter what time of the day or direction I hit Emstrey at the moment, it flows better (even with the road works) than in the past with lights. My heart sank when ai noticed lights had been re installed.
