1) Very prompt response to the incident and from where I sit it looked to be handled very well in the stand.
2) Hope the casualty is on the mend?
This is the bit that amazed me and hopefully Laptop or someone can shed so light;
3) Why wasn't the ambulance moved to between the West & North Stands whilst the casualty was being treated, i.e so reducing the distance the casualty had to travel on the stretcher?
4) Who's decision was it to escort the casualty's relative/friend across the front of the North Stand and nearly cause a crowd control issue?

I couldn't see the ins and outs of what happened but would we not expect that the relative or friend of someone who has been taken ill inside the ground isn't considered fair game for attack by opposition fans?

I am glad you have cleared up my confusion..
I thought the guy had jumped out of the wheelchair to have a go at the Wassssaaaallll fans, didn't realise he had a mate with him.
I thought it was a cunning plan by this guy to fake illness, get wheeled across the away supporters and then jump up and attack them..
Not even in the Green St film, could they have come up with a plot like that!!

Agreed both verbally, or physically, as touched on in another thread is totally wrong. But why put the individuals in a position where such circumstances can be allowed?

Matron could add more detail here, but generally movin the ambulance would take more time than moving the patient. If the paramedics have unpacked kit down the back also, or the ramp is down, it becomes a bit of a kafuffle.

But that's the point, an emergency situation should never be a kafuffle.
It is fairly obvious that there may be problems stretchering/wheeling a 'home fan' through the away end. At the very least there is a 'maybe' there.
A better arrangement can be made IMO. Drive the ambulance round and make sure it's easy to do so !

Champers, the only way it would be 'easy to do so' would be to have the vehicle read to move; which means that the kit is packed, the doors are up etc; which could have a knock on effect in speed of treatment of the casualty. Which is of course key in a medical emergency - early intervention. Not 'most seamless transition to the wee waaah'. And of course, closed gates need to be staffed; vehicle needs to be marshalled (risk of running someone over)...etc etc. It is much more effective to treat and stabilise the patient before thinking about transporting them.

Err... letting him out the large gate between the West and Away stand, wheeling him round the back to the gate by the ambulance? Done

There was a game earlier in the season (possibly Bury) where someone was taken out of the West Stand in a wheelchair and then was taken through the away end, they too had someone accompanying them.
Seems very strange to me, is there not an exit in the corner between the North & West Stand that they could be walked through? Or even just exit through the West Stand and round the back of the North Stand.

Certainly not an 'ideal' situation that's for sure.
I don't know how it works but it looked like extra police were called into the ground due to the trouble.
Would that be at extra cost to STFC?

Heaven forbid that we could have instigated the use of the huge double emergency gates that just so happened to be situated in the exact corner of the ground where the incident place!!
Come to think about it,why would we though ? they havn't been opened in 7 years so why start now.

I'm almost sure (but maybe wrong) that it's a requirement to have the ambulance there so if there's an incident they offer the first aid but can't take the patient to hospital (leaving no ambulance present) but another ambulance is called if the patient needs transporting to hospital
Did the ambulance leave with the patient? I was distracted by the game....
