Gutting how arguably our best player this season had to miss out last minute but so typical of his attitude that he didnt attempt to weaken the team by trying to play with an injury. One of few disappointments on the night.

Agree. I would have loved to have seen him and Woodsie running round their players. Mind you we may be gutted, but I suspect not half as much as Weso himself!

Listening to 5Live at about 7.30 during the match build up, one of the commentators had been speaking to Liam Lawrence earlier yesterday and said that Lawrence was 'absolutely gutted' to be missing the game through injury, so when Sky announced Wes's injury I thought it was pretty odd to see LL's name appear as his replacement. And by all accounts he played a captains performance with absolutely no signs of injury, and not subbed. So don't really know what to make of that!

Weird about Lawrence! Although I'm sure I heard on the radio on Monday he was injured! Does anybody know what happened to wesolowski ? Because he was named in the squad initially ! Hope he can pick himself up from this blow ,

A big miss as far as I'm concerned. Lawrence performed very well, but he's not really a ball winner and that was exactly what we needed in order to break up Chelsea's passing routines.
MM said on the radio that Wes has a groin injury.

I thought he came off on Saturday with a niggle but the hoped he would be fit for last night. Even if in the end it was a precaution, the main aim is back to league one so we need him up and running Asap.

If people remember he came off early on Saturday and MM commented he thought he'd bring OK. But obviously he felt the same injury again in the warm up

Depends what you're after really. I thought Lawrence was quality. Wesolowski and woods are brilliant individually . But remind me of lampard and gerrard .

Yes Lawrence was and is quality - I totally agree with you. It just would have been good to see Weso play as well.

Well Paul I disagree with that? For me woods best games so far were away to wimbledon and last night . When alongside Lawrence.

Let's face it, we are so lucky this season to have enough players to argue about !! Well perhaps not argue but disagree!!

Just glad Wes was honest enough to say something and not play and end up out for 6 weeks.
