Can't say I can agree with the OP - a narrow loss away at a team a division higher than us is not "very disappointing". However the reaction to this defeat, given it is our first of the season, will be important. COYB!

It was on a par with the tranmere performance . But nobody should be disappointed . People got game time and we are out of the jpt! Result !

Being out of the JPT is not a good result for STFC, it is a realistic opportunity to get to a Wembley Final gone, though I agree the early rounds will always carry little interest!
No different to Leicester fans stating the league cup is small fry to them which many ridiculed them for!

Manager says he wants to go far in the competition and starts with just AA upfront on his todd. Once we had Vernon and Collins plus Wes on the pitch we looked a totally different side. Also concerned now about reference to tired players......

Our full backs in particular look shattered. They've probably never played 3 5 2 in their lives before in all fairness!
Last night we struggled without Collins, Goldson & Weso. We weren't helped by one up top either, nobody dropping off meant our passing game went AWOL and Clark wasn't able to buzz in and around the front man as the ball just didn't stick. Much better with subs. Caton wasted his opportunity, big time! Griffith genuinely completed three diving headers in the middle of the park.. maybe he'll be valuable on a mud-bath pitch in January, otherwise I can't see him getting much game time if all others stay fit.
It's a shame, unbeaten runs are good. But we move on, bring on Saturday!
