Am i right in thinking the winner only gets £100k for winning the trophy?? so how much for getting to Round 3 so far? 5k? suprised how low the winnings are. thought a cup run cold bring in some much needed funds, albeit a tv game would boost it substantially...

You've got a share of the gates, which is additional income. Play Man City, Chelsea, or Liverpool away and receive half of their gates after costs could be a 100k+. Beat them and get another big club...
Possible TV rights.
Current sponsors get more exposure.
Potential to get higher paying sponsors for next season as the club is more recognisable.

Bradford done alright, they cleared a massive debt prior to the final and then earned a share of a full Wembley.

Think a long run in the league cup is good for a league club, especially if they play a top 4 side on the way. Guess they could make a million or so out of it - more if their ground has a big capacity.
While I don't agree that Leicester wanted to go out on Tuesday night you can see why lower Premier sides don't take it so seriously. Financially staying in the Premier League is worth £20 million plus - why risk that for a run in a cup that only earns a fraction of that amount
Don't blame the clubs more the Premier League set up which puts that competition far to high up the priority list compared with cup competitions that benefit a wider group of clubs

Another example of how money has totally ruined the beautiful game...

There is also the feel good factor that a cup win and run brings.
I would expect that we will see a few more at the GM on Saturday on the back of the excellent win on Tuesday evening.

It's £100,000 to the cup winners and £50,000 to the runners up and that's it. Clubs get a 50% share of the gate money less expenses for each game I think. Then there's the tv rights etc.

Believe Bradford's run earnt them a total of around a million squids in total last year. Would be enough to line our accounts nicely! Would imagine total incomes for us so far aren't particularly big, maybe around £30-40k. Still probably play for Woodsy's contract for the season, bearing in mind when he signed it.
I seem to recall our previous run to the third round netted about £87k profit, although I could be wrong. If we were to beat Norwich, draw Arsenal away in the 4th round and get it on Sky we'd perhaps be looking at £150-200k profit from the whole cup - enough to tide us over for the season, I'd imagine. FA Cup has significantly higher prize money, I believe it tends to be the most amount of prize money for L2/L1 clubs if they get 2/3 rounds in.

Am I right in thinking/dreaming that we pocketed around 250k from the BBC for the live match vs Chelsea?
Big money.

Last season a 4th round tv game paid around half that though. The real money spinner in the league cup is pocketing 45% of gate receipts wherever the tie is played.
