We are all Salop but we all come from different walks of life so it should be no surprise that people have different viewpoints and at times those views will conflict. Its obvious to some people the thought of drinking before a game, turning up 'merrry' and then using industrial language is an outdated one and is not welcome to a family friendly stadium. Personally I do all those things, im 32 with no kids, the pub before and after is very much part of the social side of the game and if you that way I doubt Id go (Ive said before that the social side was one of the main reasons I renewed my season ticket). The thought of going straight to a game, sitting watching the game in near silence and then going home is one which fills me with dread, I know people do that and that is their choice which I have no problem with. But the problem is my choice is considered anti-social nowadays, particularly at new soulless, sanitised but ultimately family friendly grounds. My viewpoint is that if I was sat in a family stand I wouldnt do those things which is why I sit at the back of 18, generally its ok but every now and again I get a scowl from people. And of course problems arise at games where there is a mixture of fans with differing views, normally at away games with a decent following in all seater stands. Sadly its a consequence of all seater grounds particularly with us where you could previously walk round two sides of the ground and generally know where to go or avoid. My season ticket for the last few seasons was the back row of 18 and I don't remember the last time I sat at a game there. This season I plan to bring my daughter who is 3. Out of respect to you, and care for her, I'll sit elsewhere. I'm not sure that the family stand is any better than other blocks in the west stand mind. But if in a couple of years time, it's a big away game and I've tried to sit near the front with my little girl, and you end up near us, then please respect me. That's what happened at Sheffield United away the first time, families, children down at the front being chastised by a few mallet wannabes who turned the air blue and refused to sit down. None of that is about modern football yadda, yadda, yadda. It's about respect, and respect is a two way street. Totally agree Dave...........good post

Appreciate he might have had a skin full (and he won't have been the first chap to have a few beers before a match and he won't be the last) but was he kicking off? Anyone feel threatened by his actions? Did anyone get hurt? Or was he just annoying? From what I have seen of the chap a few choice words granted and one or two theatrics but other than that? Does he cause trouble? Is he out to cause anyone harm? I've not heard anyone mention anything like that about the chap. I mean the language I can kinda understand if you have kids but for me that comes with the territory at the football but to have a dig at the chap because he is loud? I mean heaven forbid. Loud. At a football match. Town unveil next legends banner...

He wasn't being offensive and wasn't using bad language ( in fact I've never witnessed this so called bad language) He was simply very very drunk , shouldn't have been aloud in in the first place and wouldn't listen to anyone re continually standing and 'prowling' behind the goal.... This couldn't be ignored but HE WAS DOING NO HARM..... This whole thread shouldn't have been started and the only reason I'm replying is due to the knobs who criticise the stewards and club for not letting him do what he likes when it was obvious to everyone even Timmy that he was going to go due to the number of warnings and the attention he was causing to himself Now I don't think peoples personal opinions of individual supporters should be put on forums some very offensive and also very patronising opinions so just leave it that he's a top supporter and this was an off day

Come sit with us "morons" and "chavs" in a block 18/19 where getting excited is more acceptable!
And people wonder why the singers won't move to the southstand, When a few of us tried it (we didn't swear and only sang pro shrewsbury songs) we still got glared at and felt unwelcome.
Do people really want to sit in peace and quite to watch football?
I appreciate that nobody wants there kids around constant swearing for the whole game but at the end of the day its a football match.
I grew up on the Riverside and the only thing I home with me was the chants not the swear words.

None of that is about modern football yadda, yadda, yadda. It's about respect, and respect is a two way street. Yes it is about respect to an extent. When Im at an away game I like to think I can generally tell what the people are around me are going to be like. If they are elderly or have kids then its obviously easier to judge and I would try and move away, if that wasnt possible then Id choose to change the way I acted for 90 minutes because I wouldnt want to inconvenience those people around me or make them feel uncomfortable. It is impacting on my enjoyment but as you said its above respecting people and I do recognise that some people dont feel comfortable with loud passionate fans. As we know problems arise when some people dont recognise the people around them The reason I say about modern football is for two reasons. The first is all seater grounds in nominated seats, in terraces if your next to a group of drunken loud fans but dont want to be you can move, you clearly cant do that in all seater grounds. Secondly football has changed drastically since the 80's, people come to football for different reasons, some come too support their team, some come to be entertained, some come because its a day out. What used to be considered a very aggressive male atmosphere is now one where it has to be family friendly and standing, swearing or singing is not considered part of that. I said earlier that although we are all Shrewsbury fans we have different viewpoints and we have different reasons for going to a game. I like to have a catch up with mates, have a few drinks and get behind my team, you want to spend time with your daughter and not have her feel threatened by drunken loud fans, if we are sat nearby then potentially there is a problem.

This we are all Salop REALLY? Since the move to the Greenhous i have felt more apart from being a Salopian than ever. The last Time i felt like that was MK away in the Play offs. The singing is rubbish now the fans are fickle more than ever and we become a family run club. What is wrong with the lads going out on a Saturday getting a few down their neck having a sing song with Swearing ( gentleman banter ) lost today. On the Riverside in the 80s their was far worse Language. What i could see was a group of men in their 30s and 40s from alsorts of background enjoying themselves which is what got me hooked watching the Town. Its not just the Football for all its the day experience. Drink + mates + laugh + football.

When I'm on my own/with mates I'd go to pub beforehand then stand at the back and sing. That's why my season ticket was the back row block 18.
When I go with my dad I know he can't stand for long so I go half way up, he's not offended by chanting.
When I take my kids I'll go down the front.
I totally agree that all seater stadia and especially allocated seats have messed the whole thing up in this respect.
As people may not have the choice to get out of your way, and you may not have the chance to get out of theirs.
But remember the older man you malign for bringing a flask and not wanting to stand was first on the pitch when we won promotion in 1979 and 3 generations of his family watch Shrewsbury.
One day you'll be that old man, and I'll ask my son not to stand in your way.
I'll say it again, we're all Salop, so let's treat each other like it.

Several on here have commented about 'his mates having a word with him'
I can assure those people that myself and others have done so over the years.
Bizzy is a 'character', and I'm sure comes across as somewhat eccentric to those who don't know him well. He is actually quite a smart lad too, but I will be the first to admit he is a cuckoo, but in a lovable way.
Unfortunately he does go too far at times and I actually think it is a good thing he was ejected on Saturday as it may be a wake up call to him and he learns from that. He has in the past often said: "Oh they know the Bizzy lad", referring to the fact that the stewards know him and make allowances.
I can vouch that it is damned frustrating having 'Coach Bizzy', something he seems to have developed over the last season or two, regularly standing up and orchestrating the players whilst obstructing the view of those behind him. On being told, he will sit down and apologise before doing it again a couple of minutes later.
The fact he was constantly doing it Saturday and blocking the view of a young family as he strode in front of them, left the stewards little choice in my opinion but to remove him as he was ignoring their friendly warnings.
Hopefully he will have learnt that there are boundaries and will make a more concerted effort to keep within them in the future. I will certainly be having another word in his shell like when I next see him to push home that point.

Some really great posts on this thread. B&A at its best.
Talking of respecting others, people dont realise the impact of the constant standing at some of the older grounds. Twice last season I had to stand up to see because of people standing in front of me. I could then see without a problem but the person behind me couldn't see at all as they were a foot shorter than me. I then had to crouch a bit so they could still see the game.
That older man post was scary but so true.
