Must been been a behind the scenes because that is baffling. Comfortably our best defender in my eyes.

If this is what it looks like, it is very worrying.
We can barely get a squad together so why are we releasing one of our more experienced players?
Not to mention he is better than the two donkeys currently playing CB.

Presumably been paid off too as has a contract until the end of the season. What exactly has he done so wrong?

Presume we are looking to add elsewhere rather than another centre back as we do have four. Depending on what terms he agreed we may have saved a reasonable amount, and, unless something major has gone on behind the scenes, we can infer from this that Turner doesn't have much in the way of funds if we're effectively selling (or releasing) to buy. Either way, it's not good.

Needs to be the start of a CB clear out. Like Winfield just not good enough.

Posted about this a few months back.... Said barring a crisis he would never play again.
Crisis arrived, he played 1/2 games, every fit again and he was back on the pile.
Treated extremely poorly.

I find this very, very disturbing . To my mind it suggests the club are content with our two centre backs until the end of the season . Was hoping Goldson would partner Jones and Woods revert to full back with Summerfield and Wildig back into midfield . He has obviously had a big fall out with the club . More trouble at mill lad - I fear the worst.
P.S. perhaps that is why we continually fail to secure decent payers , they hear how our club treats its paying staff from others and don't want to be a part of it!

It's not the first transfer window we have lost our best centre back, but it's one of the most surprising departures.
It heaps the pressure on the other two.

Not happy about this but hopefully it will free up wages to get another cb that gt actually rates.

Should be Jones, Goldson, Grandison plus 1
Chuckle brothers can p**s off as far as I'm concerned

Can't believe this.... Change will no doubt mean casualties, not perhaps the one many of us wanted but I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next.. ?

Not surprised, bit part player who rarely featured in recent months gets released. No shock at all. Whether it was the right thing to do is up for debate but nobody should be surprised by the news as if he was rated he'd have been playing.

So so strange, Not the best defender we have ever had but a hard worker when he played and generally solid. Someone will be getting a decent defender for nothing this transfer window.
If no player comes in before the next match it will be crazy!

If no player comes in before the next match it will be crazy! That is the key thing, if we don't sign anyone now it looks strange but we have to wait and see.

In my opinion after a shaky start, Jones has proved he is good enough for League 1, especially a team at our level. He also seems to appreciate the fans - noticeable after every game Winfield whilst imo having a marginally better season the Mkandawire is league 2 at best - and I doubt he'd pull up trees there!!

If no player comes in before the next match it will be crazy! Not the departure I was anticipating today Bizarre. Given our recent dreadful defending we're getting rid of the one defender who hasn't been part of it I posted last week how few fit out field players we had and now we've gotten rid of one of the few who was fit Guess this means Turner is staying on

Honestly you cant say Jones has been worse than Winfield or Tam...
Just the rumored falling out hes had with GT that's ment hes moving. The other two are also on Two year deals (god help us!)
Mambos name keeps coming up, but 6 months too late for me, if he did come in now, you cant tell me he would be match fit... not in a million years.
I wonder what odds I will get on Dom Smith playing 3 games from the start this season. A injury or two and we are there (lets not forget Tam and Winfield have both had an injury this season)

I thought he was the best out of an admittedly disappointing bunch. Maybe someone else has been lined up and his contract was the cheapest to pay up.
Considering league 2 football is a distinct possibility next season I would have been keeping him on as he's very decent at that level.

Very concerned, 19 cup finals left and the current 2 in favour out of form, and everyone knows I openly don't rate Goldson. Grandison isn't the answer either

No pressure of course! The thing is that mambo was available in the summer and we instead opted for winfield and Tam. Mambo can't have played competitively since April
