Geoff you should bite the bullet and just go to this game, your as big a town fan as many, and should we get promoted, seems a shame for someone (depsite how bitter you are ) to miss out on it??? You made it as far as the ticket office the other saturday, its not that much further into the ground

This idea that new fans are really critical is a bit of a nonsense.
The West Stand can get pretty darn grumpy with a sub 5000 attendance on a Tuesday night in the winter.

You made it as far as the ticket office the other saturday, its not that much further into the ground The ticket office for my Cheltenham tickets was certainly the closest I've been to the New Meadow in over two years. Enjoy the game and good luck with the Fanzine sales. You deserve a promotion for your hard work.

The only potential con I can see being significant is if they turn up and start whinging if we don't get off to a good start, thus transmitting anxiety to the players. To be fair though, we've plenty of regulars who do that anyway. The gate will effectively provide revenue equivalent to an extra home game, and arguably 2 extra ones when you factor in how many of the usual 5000-odd are season ticket holders. That can only be good for next season's playing budget. You don't have to be a casual fan to start whinging.

I don't mind as these fair weather or nursing home fans will take up the empty slack in the South stand or the East stand . They probably don't know what colours we play in let alone name the team and the manager . Still we have now got their money .

So, big crowd today and the atmosphere was great Pity about Wycombe, but if our lads can keep playing as well in front of 8k plus crowds then that bodes well for the future IMO. There was some bother today and some idiots on the pitch but I didn't recognise any of them. The guy in the pink shirt is a Town fan who I see regularly at home games. He was obviously p**sed off with those intent on causing bother, none of which I recognised as regular Town fans. He's a loyal supporter, who just let some idiots get to him. The fact that a couple of Town 'fans' saw fit to aim a few punches at him showed that they obviously didn't know he was a Town supporter and the only conclusions to draw from that are that they either don't go every other week or they don't sit in 18 and therefore don't recognise him. Stewarding was not quick enough IMO. There seemed to be lots of indeciveness, so I would like to know their version of events as I may be wrong. Must be difficult though when things kick off with you own fans. With that aside though, I thought the atmosphere was great. The team reacted well to it, seemed to enjoy it and that of course is the most important thing.

Can't see many first timers returning after what they saw yesterday. Team were great but that minority of fans spoilt it for everyone.

Think if you break that down we will gain a few more fans but not as many as we could have in theory. Maybe the title of the thread should now be "How are you feeling about all these reguler fans"

Not so sure there, watching from the south stand it was pathetic and i was embarrassed to be a Town fan for the first time in my life. Trouble is the fools who caused the trouble will be there a week on Friday looking for more of the same.

Had a few words with 1 pr**k after the game who was moaning about "part-time supporters". What's wrong with some people?? Surely the extra revenue can only be good for the club? Yeah sure it would be nice if they come more often but how will slagging them off when they do come encourage them to come again? People have other stuff to worry about other than Footy every week. Know a lot of regulars who also brought kids/other half's with them on Sat and why not? Sat next to same guy at Cheltenham the other week but he still had the nerve to call me a part timer...... Didn't see you in Devon for the pre-season though?

You can't blame people for not particularly liking extra fans when some act like they did yesterday. As said elsewhere, 99% were fine, but the ones who let us down were obviously not regulars or even people interested in watching town just in having a fight.

One good thing is that the crowd on saturday has paid the wages for atleast 2 players or maybe 3 wages for a year
