Hil Folks.
Saddlers fan in peace here. Thought I would sign up and talk to you guys ahead of Tuesdays game. Been watching Walsall since 1966- our clubs used to play each other a lot in the 60's and 70's. Some good games between the sides. Pity the tie wasn't at the New Meadow as I've not been there yet. Been to the Gay Meadow maybe 12 times over the years.

this match hasn't got much attention at the moment - I can't see too many going, but I may be tempted
It is £10 I believe?

i came to walsall with southampton a few years back (3-1 to the saints i do believe), quite good for noise, but was stood behind a pillar, very annoying. hope to come again though, and we should bring a fair few..

I went to Walsall v Exeter last season (I think). Awful atmosphere, horrible fans. Hope we give them a good seeing to.

I won’t be attending the game next week as I am over here in Germany but have been to see the Saddlers a fair bit when I was living back home. I’m from Rugeley so it was an easy trip to Fellows Park (guess even easier for the Bescot now with the train service). Used to go to Fellows Park a fair bit, the Bescot just didn’t have the same appeal at all. But I used to go out with the daughter of Roy Whalley (this was way back mind) and used to pop to the Bescot when we had free tickets. Is he still at the club Roy Whalley? Very difficult to get any appetite for the game next week, I think all eyes will be on the League Cup… Anyhows, welcome to B&A...

Guess it will depend on the draw for the next round of the league cup if its a decent one or away some may choose to save there cash for that rather than what is a pretty well priced game at Walsall...

Not a trick question, just genuinely curious cos i know your a Cardiff fan and i believe you follow ?is it kidderminster at times?? and obviously a Town fan, so what enticed you along to Walsall Exeter?

It was a Saturday and I couldn't get to a Shrews or Cardiff match (for whatever reason) and I fancied seeing a game of football - i'm not just a fan of Town and Cardiff, but a fan of football in general, people would do well to remember that - and I saw Walsall (who I despise) were at home. Was in the Exeter end, incidentally!

glitsmygod- Yes it was 3-1 to the Saints at that game. The pillars have been a nightmare down the years. We are lucky behind the goal at the home end as since the stand re-build they have vanised. As you say, we still generate a bit of noise. The away end keeps the noise in as a fairly low roof.
Sean Mc Allister...what bad experience did you have of Walsall fans have you had to label them 'horrible' fans? Just curious, mate.
Stutgartershrew.. yes Roy Whalley still at the club as commercial director. He has stepped down as chief exec.
Slight change of subject... do any older posters remember a full back you had in the mid to late 1960's by the name of Pat Wright? You had him from Blues and he went on to sign for Derby. Later became a coach and spent sometime in Saudi before returning home to set up his own soccer schools He is my uncle!

PAT WRIGHT and Geoff Fellows were probably the best full back pairing we have ever had.

I remember one game at Fellows Park where we went 3-0 down very quickly, but eventually fought back to draw 3-3 and GT was one of the scorers.

just old enough to remember Pat Wright!
My first ever away game was to Fellows park in about 1971 and won 1-0 with Ricky Moir goal and got chased all way back to station by Walsall fans!

It's great to be playing Walsall again, JPT or no JPT, it's a proper derby game. They can bugger off trying to flog us any of those pegs or lucky heather though.

We wouldn't have far to chase you to the station these days, Notts. About 100 yards!

John Manning... another ex-Town player we had for a season or two. Some went the other way... Geoff Morris, Wayne Clarke, Willie Naughton, Martin O'Connor etc.

Hi Blazey.
So far very good mate. Does his defending and seems to enjoy bombing forward. As early as the second minute in our away game at Hartlepool he won us a penalty in one of his darting runs. Our first penalty for almost two years!
Yes I am well pleased with this signing.
