Not a classic but vitally important to get that first win. We played some good stuff at times but also reverted to our old failings a bit often. Felt all of GTs changes into the side acquitted themselves well, and it was a big call to leave Hazell out but Sharps looked much more like his old self after one iffy first half moment, and Sherriff was probably my man of the match. The central midfielders worked well together and seemed to have some understanding with regards running and sitting, great energy from Sean McAllister throughout. Also, I know he wasn't on the pitch long but Richards seemed at home at left mid, and is an option well worth considering in away games, where we may be unable to carry two out-and-out wingers We needed some vital top drawer saves from Smith to keep us in it, we had a bit of luck today in that respect. I can see myself getting rather frustrated with Marvin throughout the season, seems to miss the obvious option a bit too often. However he's always in the game and looks like making stuff happen so I'll lay off him All in all, I'll take the three points but no way should we be getting carried away. Though hopefully B&A returns to a state of semi-normality, Simpson better than Turner...

Definite red card as well, he flew his body in showing his studs 7 mins after he came on. A much needed win, looked like we were going to concede just before Wroe scored with a great save by Smith and them hitting the post.
One hell of a run by Wroe to score after collecting the ball from near the half way line from Wright. Just looked like that drive in midfield that hope2010 was looking for.

Think Crewe have the potential to be a decent side. The brand of football they play is good compared to some of the teams in this division.
I think we played well in the first 45 minutes and the last 20 minutes, early in the second half we looked a little shakey and almost conceded a goal due to our own mistakes. It was definitely a red card- the challenge was very late and it looked as if his studs were up, I would like to see it again to see exactly how bad it was.
Vital to get our first win of the season and I hope this gives the players the confidence to win the next few games. Roll on Swansea!

Feels good to get that first win. First half we had couple of decent chances from Wrighty. Ainsworth was provider again for the goal as he crossed in and headed in by McAllister. Second half we were poor at times and sloppy. We gave the ball away quite alot, Crewe had their chances and even hit the post. When Wroe scored it was game over. Felt Sharps was solid in central defence, SCS was great today too. McAllister had a good game today, as did Wroe and feel they both did well together in centre mid. Good to see them both on the scoresheet. Great goal by Wroe, supberb run and good finsh. Just wish Morgan will put more of his chances away. Smithy pulled off was great saves today, which helped give us that first clean sheet. Overall not a particularly good performance and we need to improve if we are going to chase promotion. Roll on Swansea on Tuesday.

The changes that everyone was crying out for were made, and made a big difference. Gornell got himself into some good positions, has a good touch and appears to be a lot stronger on the ball than Collins. Grandison had a fair game and tried to get forward, just needs to learn when to stay and when to go. Sharps, playing on his favourite side improved as the game wore on and , for me, normal service was resumed with SCS alongside him. McAllister (my MoM) was everywhere, winning the ball and keeping the game going forward. I think both Wroe and McAllister got forward more times in this match than the midfield did in the last 3 matches. We should have put the game to bed by half-time, having hit the post and forced one or two great saves from their keeper. Unfortunately, in the second half we did the usual, and sat back and let them come onto us, only a great save by Smith low down sparing our anger. Overall a 7/10 performance for me, which will be good enough for mid-table / play off place, maybe, but we need to do better for the full 90mins. Good signs for the future, bring on Swindon and lets get another 3 points in the bag. Surprised that we had 5,050 , but with the poor showing midweek and V Festival i suppose it was what we expected.

Was always going to be nervy when we were just one goal ahead, we'd had enough chances in the first half to finish them off completely by half time, as usual Crewe played their nice passing game... until they decided they wanted to try and kick us off the park for the last 20 minutes.
Also couldnt believe how quiet the crowd was today from both sets of supporters, I dont think the Crewe player who got sent off even got a wave of cheerio from anyone???

It was good to see us both win and deserve to win (just about).
It won't go down as a vintage performance and the fact that Crewe were pretty poor shouldn't be forgotten. Nevertheless, I don't want to do too much notpicking after our first win. Great to get it chalked up, now hopefully it can give us a bit of confidence to kick on.
McAllister was MOTM, for me.

Glad I didn't place a bet on Crewe that was the worst Crewe side I have seen in years. Unless they bring in some new players they are likely to be in a relegation dogfight.
Good performance from the Town in the first half, but in the second they nearly threw the game away by failing to do the simple things.
Each of the the season debut players did enough to play again on Tuesday except I'd lay Collins ( sorry Hoover), mom for me was sheriff good goal from Wroe but needs to do that 5 times a match not once in 20 games.
One man who must be worried is Roland attendance 1500 down on corresponding game last season.

Could be Dario's last game today. Four games into the new season and the first casualty will be him. Sad that his legacy at Crewe could end like this but he's just hung around too long and has lost the plot. I seemed to remember a certain Brian Clough doing the same thing.

To be fair, that was our New Years home game, but your point still stands, and the stands looked a lot emptier than that too. I suspect we should see how the two forthcoming home games go attendance wise, if we get around 15000 in total it wouldn't be too bad. I expected attendances to be down this season to be honest, though it seemed really empty today.

One man who must be worried is Roland attendance 1500 down on corresponding game last season. Roland will of course take into account factors such as recent form, three home matches in a row with Crewe being the least appetising, V Festival this weekend and we're at the height of the holiday season where a percentage of fans will be elsewhere. Best guide would be the Aldershot match from last season played on Aug 21st where we only pulled 5353. One can calculate that the home element of crowd is down by around 600 as Aldershot brought 234 fans to that match. Unless some remarkable happens on the field this season we brace ourselves for lower crowds in 2011-12. Indeed most clubs can.

Vfest, People still on holiday, poor run of form, poor numbers from Crewe in desperate form, - I thought it was a decent gate all things considered.

First 30 minutes we were excellent, the rest seemed pretty flat but a win will breed confidence - hopefully - and at least we actually looked like we had a midfield today, unlike on Tuesday. Good to see Sharps noticeably improve as the game went on as well.

If Wroe does that 5 times every match, he'll be a regular starter at Old Trafford in January!

Good victory today although Crewe were woeful with only their number 9 looking like causing us problems. I think this was a good management performance by Turner to be fair. Tactically spot on. He'd obviously done his homework on them and picked the team accordingly. What's missing ? A lack of belief I think. If we adopt a bit more of a 'let's go for it because we can do it' attitude then I think we will have a very good season indeed.

I can assure you that the texts flowing into BBC Radio Shropshire allegedly from Hooverfox are most definitely NOT from me Martin - perhaps the texting impostor is WILL ROBERTS (also known as Shrewswill and BallBag18 on Twitter). He frequently impersonated me on both rival messageboards and through texts to Radio Shropshire. I wouldn't be surprised if you too have fallen foul of his immature (and often malicious) games. By the by, Will Roberts is a slender, ginger-haired young man with an apparently high-pitched voice. He can be found in the middle of the South Stand and recently made an appearance at Oxford away (in which he sung a song about 'Ian Sharps' Disco Pants' totally on his own). People should be aware of this nasty individual and keep an eye for him in person if necessary. I hope you contact Radio Shropshire, Martin, and discover who was behind your impersonation.

An improvement for certain on our last home game. Jacobson and Grandison provide more of an attacking outlet on the flanks and show more desire to go forward than the previous pairing of Sherriff and Regan. Grandison was my MOTM today... in the most part solid and composed, and even a few trademark stepovers in the dying minutes Good to see Macca get his first goal for us, and Wroe's was something very special indeed. I'm a bit worried though that our strikers didn't seem to know where the net was.... Saw some dispirited young Crewe fans on the way home who are convinced they are going to get relegated this season. They were nothing special today, but to be fair they look like they have a very young team, who will improve through the season and be comfortably mid-table. In the long run I think we will look at this as being a decent 3 points.

Not the best game to watch but we got the 3 points that we vitally needed. Good performances from Grandison, Sherriff and Macca. Hopefully we will build on this for next Saturday.

Midfield players played well. Liked the Morgan and Gornell partnership, so going forward o.k. Full backs pushed forward and had good pace getting up and down. Central defence not so good and should have got punished at least a couple of times, Sharps again at fault. 3 points though and a great game against Swindon next week to look forward to.

It was the number of times he appears in the opposing penalty area that needs to be a lot more frequent than once in a blue moon. I did hear that there is an offer in from LA for Wroe not from Galaxy but universal want him for the remake of Moses. Hoover I hate point out your spelling mistake I think you meant to write 1 is a footballing bairn the other is from Birmingham easy mistake to make. Finally on a more serious note surely it can't belong till Hazell is back in the team, central defence looked decidedly suspect yesterday.

Was nearly the classic example of a game of two halves
First half we looked good and what was pleasing was the whole team seemed to have a lot of energy, were pressing from the first minute and we could have had 2 or 3 easily. Crewe just didnt seem up for it
Second half though it changed and it was almost role reversal, the sending off was the turning point for me although we didnt take advantage of the extra man as much as we should
Mcallister impressed me alot
