Taken from the official STFC website:
After discussions with the Shropshire FA and the club Shrewsbury Town have agreed to the final of the Shropshire Senior Cup taking place on Wednesday 27th April with a 7pm kick-off at the Greenhous Meadow. Despite April being a busy month for the first team and reserve side manager Graham Turner has agreed to field a team in the final that looks set to be played against Market Drayton Town.
Next season's competition has been expanded to include Town, AFC Telford, Market Drayton Town and The New Saints.

Ridiculous!
Just what you really want when you're in a promotion battle! Hopefully Turner will use his head and use the youth squad! The sooner we pull out of the competitions the better, massive waste of time.

I some times wonder who in their right minds put a match like this in a football season and at the end of it All I can see is us putting out youth team, as we play this and 2 other matches in 6 days, then again 3 days later.

Doubt Turner will be in the dugout for this it will be left to Jacko, embarrasing from the Shropshire FA.

Really feel this was a bad move, felt we shoyld have pulled out this year like Teford did, We've got Hreford awawy on Saturday, Accy at home on Esster Monday and Cheltenham away on the Saturday afterwards. Really important games to cement our promotion push.
Hope Turner plays a weakened team.
Shropshire FA have really got think about pricing if they are to encourage people to attend.

Would prove to me that Shropshire FA only think of themselves and not the wider future of football in the county when both the senior sides are closing in on promotion (well we are anyway!). How short sighted can they be?
Possibly League 1 football in Shropshire next season surely worth missing a year of the Shropshire Cup for? Plain daft.

The annual farce of the SSC gets more embarrasing every year.
Why don't we have the b a l l s like Telford to tell them to stuff it for this year (every year??)

Shropshire FA are clearly an absolute joke
Has anyone actually identified why it HAS to be played in April? Why is it so important at all in fact??

Absolutely ridiculous date for a meaningless trophy Haven't bothered about this for years, and the Shropshire FA need to have a long hard look at themselves

Put your reserves in Turner this is a joke straight bang in the middle of a big month for Salop and Drayton as Drayton are fighting of relagation. The FA should of said to Turner and Sinton just feild a team of Youth and Fringe players.
Drayton could win Senior cup and Challange Cup who the play Wem my brothers side in final on Monday at the GM

Better be free for season ticket holders!!! not much chance of that - prices are set by the Shropshire FA not the club

Wouldn't expect many more than 500 anyway to watch Town reserves against Market Drayton.
Hardly a big draw is it TBH?

Especially with it being midweek. They would have been better off putting it on a July afternoon.

Can't quite see why they couldn't have pencilled in a couple of dates in may - one after league programme was over and another after the play-offs should either Telford or Town be involved
I know by that time players would be tired and possibly those out of contract might not be available, but could have been an ok game to end the season especially if both sides get promoted it could have been quite a celebratory end to the season
As it is it seems like a meaningless exercise just to get the fixture completed

absolute morons in the Shropshire FA! Turner shouldn't even play any reserves or fringe players - just the youth. no point risking anyone who even remotely might be on the bench in the final league games.
Also suggest if fans completely boycotted it, it might send a message to the FA, but then again they're obviously so pre-occupied with their own self-importance they probably wouldn't notice.

Do Town have any legal obligations to play in the Shropshire Senior Cup as members of the Shropshire FA?
I was wondering if they could pull out from competing in this competition without there be any implications?

Main headline in the lunchtime Star:
"Senior Cup Farce: Bucks are back in"
WHAT A SHAMBLE SHROPS FA - You should all resign if you are so incompetent
Wonder what Drayton think of it all................

I am no fan of the Shropshire FA having crossed swords with them on a number of occasions but this argument is getting out of all proportions, the job of the SFA is to control and run football in Shropshire and not to be subservient to Shrewsbury or Telford. What would fans say if the FA cup was postponed because XY or Z team in the final were afraid that the final would hinder their chances of being champions of Europe.
I know that the Shropshire Senior cup is not on a par with the FA cup but the principles are the same.
Once the League fixtures are out Shropshire FA should set the dates for the senior cup dates and then they should be played come hell or high water.
By the way tradition counts for a lot it is not something to be thrown away lightly.

It's now been confirmed as: Shrewsbury Town v AFC Telford Utd Wednesday 27th April Greenhous Meadow We have said we are willing to play on that date and would be able to field a strong team if it were to be played in July. I think we can read between the lines :-) Interesting phrases in the announcement. Link------> AFC Telford Utd statement

Well instead of it just being Shrewsbury & Telford how about including all the other teams that play in such leagues as the West Midland etc? This is an annual farce of a competition, just that the farce is that much bigger this year due to the Shrops FA. Anyone given a thought to what Drayton must be thinking of the whole shambles
