I think I just covered my losses on the footy and the other 'National bets, possibly with a small profit.... because numbnuts forgot to get the current odds at striking time on the slip, and may end up being paid at the SP of 14/1 instead of the 18/1 at the time. After the initial moment of joy, I quickly got grumpy about neither of my other (still standing) nags making the top 4. Typical Town fan mentality eh?

Won bugger all and the Town lost 3-0, my footy bet didn't come off either

My footy bets very often exhibit a clear conflict of interest with Town's progress. Today was no exception, apart from the fact I got shafted from both directions thanks to Chesterfield and Stevenage failing. Torquay winning alone did me no favours at all.

Fingers burned, Lesson learned! ALWAYS get the current quoted odds on your slip if you want to be sure of your return rather than get the SP. Oh well, 50p down on the day, someone has to pay the staff wages

Further question we took the wifes horse at 12/1 on a £4 each way is it quarter the odds thus 12 divided by 4 =3 x the amount so 3 x 4 = £12 plus the £4 wager leaves £16 winnings ?

Similarly, you'll get £4xY plus £1xY (1/4 the odds) for yours, where Y is the odds you got. Plus your 8 quid of stake back, of course. Goodtimes!

Echo those comments, backed Ballabrigs, Oscar Time and Skipper Brig - tricast was looking tasty! Back to back national wins although not as much as last year still enough to cover the transport down to that woeful display today. Thanks Mr C Prince.

Fairplay to that lucky punter who whacked in the Tricast for 1900 quid on-course today. Lucky there was a lady involved, or it could have been flashbacks to Rooney

Put a tenner on Ballybriggs at 14 to win in my once a year bet. Then meant to put a tenner each way on Skipper Briggs, but my boss walked into the office and I panicked, clicked on Ballybriggs again by mistake, too late by the time I realised! Thankyou boss, 250 quid later!

Well done to all who won but spare a thought for jockey Peter Toole, in a critical condition in hospital after a fall in the 2nd race today.
