Whilst Jamo implores us to ignore the warnings of disorder, I can't help but feel that TV news will be dominated yet again by the minority of scumbags that are always infiltrating such events, using any opportunity to wreak havoc, fight the police and cause damage by piggy backing on another march that is organised I'm sure with all good intentions, however perhaps misguided it may be to do so at this time.

Having taken note of the "watch the media make us all out to be nasty" excuse already.......... In all seriousness will you please try not to disrespect any of the war memorials or statues (such as Churchill) as you make your "peaceful" way about your business. Regarding protests in general I hope you have more success than the "Not in my name protest" against the last Iraq war which of course was ignored by the previous lot....strange that I didn't notice the red rags flying in the face of a great "wrong" then.. Anyway good luck with waving the red rag and singing your little jollies...make sure you thank any Labour MP you see for allowing the nasty Condems to get in.... and if you're off to a football match try not to wear too much burberry and leave your stanley knife at home if you can bear to part with it. Absolutely spot on You football fans are so thuggish and racist. Don't you go insulting the locals, fighting with the Police and singing your anti Muslim songs and p**sing in the streets of Bradford on saturday will you.,,cos everyone knows that that is what happens at football matches (sic) The argument of the playground from the usual suspects.

those good cuts, again? Truth hurts then Why does attending this protest against the government's drive to make ordinary people pay for the crisis of the banking sector somehow stand as evidence that I am, in fact, deeply envious of you and Downie? Don't follow your logic, sorry. On the other hand, I bet you're envious of my public sector pension, can't get 'em for love or money in the private sector apparently...

those good cuts, again? What is the point of trying to educate those that refuse to be educated!! Well you wont have to worry about future generations being educated at all if Cameron and Gove get away with their cuts only the wealthy will be able to afford a good rounded education. A great example of cuts today a poorer society tomorrow.

Think the rally is a good thing as without the ability to protest nothing would ever change, although it seems unlikely the government is going to change it's economic direction just yet
For me as a public sector worker there is a good case to be made for re evaluating the role of public services and looking to see if services can be delivered in new and different ways, including the private sector taking a greater role. But the way the cuts are being handled are all about short term savings and not actually about the quality of service delivered. For example many leisure services are being axed without thinking of the long term health issues this might cause
Also it seems that by making public sector workers redundant in a stagnant economy you are also setting up problems for the private sector. less people earning equals less spending in shops, restaurants and services and more people on benefits - so not quite sure where the economic growth needed comes from

Cannot believe some of the views expressed on here. Of course peaceful protest can have an effect on those in power. Where have some of you been for the last month or so? Those who are going on the march ( some of whom i know personally) are not going to save their jobs, but the jobs and services provided by others. So its o.k. for people to lose their jobs, have their lives drastically changed, their income lowered, lose their homes. Its o.k. for services which most of us need to be dismantled. Its o.k. because i'm alright mate, i've made it, whereas you public sector workers have'nt, and look up to us with green eyed envy. The point being that with more people being unemployed there will be less money available to spend in the private sector. Can't you see the bigger picture. Wake up my friends because you soon will.

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?" Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the breadwinner of the family, so let's call me capitalism. Your Mom, now she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the people. The Swedish nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see if that makes sense," So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad had said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father wearing burberry in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father, " dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now." The father says, "Good son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about." The little boy replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in deep poo." Ow i've been smited !

22 coaches! You'd think someone would organise a train. Exactly. £23.000.00 was the figure quoted so we thought we would stick with the coaches, unless you can lend us a few bob ?

Peaceful protest rarely makes any difference in the UK.
Violent protest certainly does.
From the corn laws to the poll tax to the women's vote to fair wages to silk weavers.
So it is a bit rich for politicans to complain about violent disorder when over the last 150 years it is the only form of protest that they have really listened to.
I don't agree with violent protest. But I can see why people think it is their only option.
