www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-computer001.gif[/imgAt least you know what Arry is thinking. Which is more than can be said of a certain redfaced Scotsman who throws his toys out the pram and becomes a mute. Cheer up and feel the love...... for Spurs. A certain red faced scotsman whose record in this competition is so comperable to Tottenhams Arthur Daley ?...NOT ! You certainly know your football and no mistake. Thank you for acknowledging the fact. The truth is Arry is loved by most football supporters, who accept he may be a bit of a wide boy, but does'nt spend his time moaning and groaning about every little thing if Spurs lose. While i respect the redfaced jock for his achievements in football, i detest him for the way he conducts himself if things don't go his way. This trait seems to infect those bandwagon jumpers who support his team.

I found the fawning of Harry in today's media a bit grating. Since 2003, Spurs are the highest net spenders in the premier league behind City and Chelsea. He's done well to turn them around, but they've spent a lot of money over a sustained period which eventually tells. They must expect some success eventually.

Harry Redknapp's a clever man, he knows how to play the media, he get's in their good books and as such he's given a really easy ride by them.

Other English managers who have reached at least the European Cup quarter finals-Bill Nicholson, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Don Revie, Terry Venables. Don't let Sky and their cohorts re-write the record books. I think what was meant is that Spurs are the first English team this season to book their place in the quarter finals. Arsenal out, Untied and Chelski still to play.

Excellent job done by Tottenham. To beat the soon-to-be Italian champions over 180 minutes without conceding is quite an achievement and shows how Spurs have matured. They have as much chance of winning it as everyone else left in, bar Barcelona, I would say. It seems European football suits them - how I wish they could perform like that defensively in the Prem. on a side note, listened to the game on 5 live and thought Green & Pleat are possibly the worst commentators ever! Talk absolute drivel!! You're forgetting there are no teams left in the Champions League or even the Europa League from the elephants graveyard that was Seria A. No you are! Unless Inter Milan, who play next week by the way, aren't in the Italian League anymore?

I find it interesting that Ghostie would prefer to refer to the recent form table rather than the Prem League Table. Beancounters Great performance by Spurs and to be able to keep a clean sheet was most unusual. I expected an away goal right up to the final whistle, as 'the hard way' tends to be the way we do it.

Or, maybe what was meant was that Arry is the first ENGLISH manager since1986(Venables) to get to the quarter finals of the European/Champions League Cup.

In a generation where top teams' appointments have been dominated in favour of foreign coaches then yes, Harry Redknapp's achievement at Spurs is an excellent one.

Redknapp joined Spurs in 2008, their net transfer spend since then has been: 08/09 19.5m 09/10 0.5m 10/11 17.5m Total 37.5m Previous 3 seasons: 07/08 34m 06/07 24m 05/06 18m Total: £76m I suspect the club's revenues are somewhat improved during his tenure given their appearance and performances in the CL this season.

With Blackpool having 'done' Spurs 3-1 last week, I wonder what mincemeat they would have made of AC Milan

With Blackpool having 'done' Spurs 3-1 last week, I wonder what mincemeat they would have made of AC Milan As Wolves disposed of Blackpool by an even greater margin - what would they have done By this logic Town will soon be world champions, along with lots of other teams

I know ‘Arry isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but if I recall he was very gracious in defeat up at Blackpool and had very good things to say about how Blackpool went about things. I think he had every right to be a tad miffed in not getting owt from the game considering the chances they created but even so, spoke well of Blackpool. That in itself shows him up in a very good light considering recent events at other clubs. Although granted, I would say that he perhaps is not under the same pressure as other managers at the top of the table. I think Spurs are still in the ‘anything beyond the group stages is a bonus’ mode and they are just happy to be challenging for top four place, they are simply enjoying being a part of it by the looks and with the level of expectation perhaps not as high as other places they do come across rather well as a result…
I find it very difficult these days to support English sides in the European Cup. Just can't bring myself to do it for the most part but that said, it is good to see an English manager in amongst the last few in the European Cup. That is something good to see...

The biggest ever stock market rise in one day was Northern Rock - Pile on owd lad (alternatively look at what is happening today ) I concur with the earlier statement on here, Spurs best ever result is a nil nil draw against a bunch of has beens missing 3 key players - well done (West Ham won the world cup - everyone knows that )

I like to see all English team do well in Europe (even Arsenal) 1966 and all that as part of your argument, just shows how far back you have to go back to find decent West Ham players. For what it's worth I hope they stay up.

Merely pointing out that we won the world cup and hence aren't arsed with the Finished in the first four champions league I dont need to go back that far for decent performances - thraping Man Utd 4-0 in october was good, but not as good as beating the Saucepan Lids 1 - 0 a month earlier

I refer you to my facebook posting of 5 minutes ago.................... "Just let it be known that I am not a sore loser, and all the best to them Oatcake munchin, pottery workers who fiddle there dole by being extras on Clayhanger! No wonder Stanley Matthews played for them when he was 55 - most 55 year olds could walk into that team of hoofers!!!!!!"

To compare the Tony Waddington team that Sir Stanley played in to the current anti-football lot is far fetched-even by football banter standards

I may be the only one, but i thought Piquionne controlled the ball with his upper chest, and not his arm. I am genuinely disappointed that Wet Spam lost, at least they played football, of sorts, and had the best player on the park by a mile in Scott Parker. Stoke are a poor team, but very effective in what they do, hopefully Bolton will end their dreams and we can have a real Derby F.A.Cup Final...... City v. Bolton.
Look on the bright side Ghosty, you can say you have won the double this season, new ground and relegation, the odds on that must be, what, 2-1 ON. Sit back and watch the best team in London grace the Champions League. C.O.Y.S.

Hope they make the most out of it, no chance are they getting 4th over chelsea.

You obviously failed to read Ant's post before about how the net spending of the last 3 years was £37.5m....
Meanwhile Chelsea spent £75m in one evening a little while ago.
