'Bertymax' what you SHOULD have gleamed from my post is the FACT that there were over 2,000 more HOME fans at Vale Park last night than at the greenhouse thingy lastnight! Oh well, you can lead a horse to water and all that! Oh and BEFORE someone posts with 'Port Vale fan attendance mania' a Shrews fan started the thread..... I know what you wanted me to think, but statistics can be twisted anyway to suit any argument. The point i was making was given you have larger home suport, yr away following is pretty poor in comparrison. Regardless, any team that takes over 1,000 to a midweek away fixture when times are hard deserves a bit of credit, us for having smaller pool of support than Vale, you guys as getting over here and getting into the meadow is probably half yr job seekers allowance

That's below the belt. No need to frighten them.

First time since the match I've had a look at onevalefan. Very funny. They are of course, very welcome on here. I love a bit of banter. Although if their delusions of grandeur are serious.....no, they can't be, can they? www.onevalefan.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=52138

So now they’re trying the good old aloof, superior ‘you care more about us than we care about you’ routine. I’ll say one thing, it’s a entertainment coming up against Vale…their fans are hilarious…

If away support was ultimately important Leeds wouldn't have spent three seasons in the third tier - it really doesn't matter (although it makes for a reasonable atmosphere.)

why are we persisting with this stupid meaningless dribble. town are a very well supported club at this level and lots in league two would wish they had our away following. I really enjoy the games v Port Vale, its great they bring more than the normal 250 -350 fans, the larger the away support the better the atmosphere imo.
Both sets of fans were pretty good last night, i liked the way the two teams gathered together on the final whistle to shake hands - some mutual respect I thought.
should town of won? probably we just shaded it, did we really create a lot of chances? maybe not to many although great shot from Davies early on. was it a pen? probably not, would we have shouted for it if say Collins was tumbled over - yep course we would. so a draw was just about OK.
When we played them away they were top I recall and now they are 6 or 7th where as we are still 4th
It will be a tight end of season, but as it stands I would rather have our points and our team than what looked a fairly cumbersome slow and awkward long ball Vale, who's biggest we will have to wait till the end of the season and maybe the play off final, if it comes to a show down at Old Trafford, my guess is vale will have the biggest following - but they have a population about 3 times that of Town.

Well said Kentonblue, the first sensible post I've read from EITHER side on here! For what it's worth IF we need the play offs, IF we get to the final, then yes it's a certainty we'll sell our [30K]? allocation. NOT stirring up the 'mine's bigger than your's' cr@p again because IF we don't go directly up I hope we miss out on Old Trafford as will many Vale fans. Reason being the cash generated there is the ONLY thing the board are clinging to power with and trying to keep out Mo and his millions with. So you see IF you get to the final you are welcome to it..........

I see I got quite a few bites! Oh I see, so you actually came back from the game and started researching away followings dating back 3 seasons simply as a wind up attempt. It wasn't then, as I originally thought, a case of you coming back from the game right pi**ed off, bitter and frustrated after hearing us singing you'll never beat the vale, and finding what ever solace you could from the fact we hadn't beat your 1400 to our place?? Silly me.

Fact is my willy waving friend is.... massive Portfail did not sell their full 1300 ,despite moaning on your own forum "is that all we get".So coming on here giving it the massive following B@llocks is Quite funny when a 4th v 5th in the division are playing. What happened did 195 of you not cash your Giros? or did Primark/Matalan have a Sale on?

Nice grammar in your opening statement, bit rich to talk about people cashing in giros when you're hardly einstein.
Your going over old ground, its been done to death in this thread. Your home support was similarly as shocking on Tuesday, when for an arguably less important match in September we had over 7000 home fans. 1100 away fans on a Tuesday night in this league is respectable.
As I've said before, circumstances effect followings. How many of you lot saw the fixtures last season and thought you'd bring thousands to our place last game of the season. In the end it was 673. It happens.

I live amongst many Vale fans, who constantly give it the "we are massive Vale, you are tiny Shrewsbury" and I thought I would put these figures out there, see if you lot still react. Seems as though you did.

Same story as Notts County last season - no doubt a 'bigger' club than Town based on history (Wembley of the North and all that), but going backwards. It's not surprising that some of their fans have a complex about their own place in football.
Why do they bother? Why do we bother?

El Mundo. I'd say at the moment we're simlar sized in the attendances stakes. You've been above us on average home attendances for the last few years, not this season as yet. Our away followings are very good indeed. We're not massive by any means, but all things considered we're a bigger club than you.
Amber Gambler, what a pleasant fellow you are, with the insults and abuse. I didn't reply to your pi88 taking about primark and matalan as it has absolutely no effect on me. You're merely typing words on a keyboard, so your wind up attempts are water off a ducks back as far as I'm concerned. The fact you continue to post such nonsense merely serves to show yourself up for the child you so obviously are. We were all young once I suppose, so I cant knock you too much for it.
Amsterdammer, forgive me, but didn't Notts County go up as Champions last season, and Town didn't make the play offs. Yet you state they're a club going backwards? OK, if you're using them as a comparison to us, I'd take that this season to be honest. If Mo's millions come our way I'm sure he'll be more than capable of changing our fortunes, on and off the field.
As for yourselves, you're a well run club with a new found fanbase that seem to be sticking with the club. I enjoy our matches, despite the off field mither, rivalries are part and parcel of football. That nervous tension leading up to and during a game is what its all about. Lets face it, when the fixtures come out there are a number of games everyone looks for, and no disrespect to any of these clubs as the feeling is probably mutual, but Barnet, gillingham and aldershot are hardly the matches that get people excited.

Certain County fans were on here giving it large when their team was built on debt and false promises (not comparable to you). But they too were on here shouting about what a massive club that deserve to be gracing the championship at least. They're now 4 points above the league 1 relegation zone. Better than 2 seasons ago, yes, but a long term decline over the last 25 years, undoubtedly. You're best off not shouting too loudly about Mo's millions. If he's a sensible businessman as you suggest it will be a long term project to get you back up the leagues. You'll won't be able to celebrate too quickly. If he doesn't deliver (like many rich benefactors before him) you could end up looking silly.

I actually agree with most of what you have put, but it doesn't seem to stop the majority of your fans getting ridiculously excited over match attendances! And size of your club doesn't actually matter, what really matters is what league you are in, and where you are in that league, just ask Bradford fans!

Interesting that the two gamkes Vale got 8000, one they were going for the play offs on the last day of the season, and two the second was a top of the table clash.
There average is the same as ours.
At least our ground is finished and we have a good board!

With that in mind see you at a possible sell out Old Trafford in a couple of months time......... pvfc61: I shall bear my bare backside if OT is sold out for a Division 4 play off final Sir We took just under 24,000 to The New Wembley the first time and 21,000 the second time and I can see us taking anymore than that to any final unless it was the FA Cup or league Finals. As for a final at OT how many would we take there? I'd say 20k max and as for Vale if they are as big as Bristol Rovers who took 37-38k to Wembley. The 61,589 record crowd for a League 2 play off final will not ever be beaten for a long long time. 76k will not sell out unless we sell 38k each.
