i would class that as a nightmare debut Sadly have to agree - at fault for the first goal, passing was poor and looked out of his depth, although in fairness Lowe and Bishop are good league to strikers and throwing him in against them perhaps wasn't Turners brightest idea I mentioned after Saturdays game (and Sharps' red) that on the basis on the previous two reserve game I had reservations as to how ready he is for 1st team football. Its unfortunate the Red card, & downings return have forced this, but I felt with Lomax in the squad there were options there to use Grandison centrally.

I thought he did ok in difficult circumstances. His tackling was fine and I disagree with those knocking his distribution, which was no worse than anyone else's. His marking and positioning were exposed, however, although the fact he had a similarly inexperienced player just outside him in a relatively unfamiliar position probably didn't help. this comes close to my take on his performance. i watched him in the first 20 minutes and he settled in well enough. Far from a nightmare performance and certainly not the poorest player on the pitch by a long way

Not impressed at all. Saw both Nigel Pearson and Mark Williams play their 1st ever games for Town and the contrast couldn't be greater. Bad mistake not to have extended Downing's loan..he would have done a job for us last night. Grandison had a poor game too..so wouldn't have helped much playing him in central defence. How badly does Wright have to play before being substituted? Harsh to judge a player on his debut against two of the best centre backs this club's ever had!

We had 5 starting players under 21 and none of them have played many first team games. Bury are one of the best footballing sides in our league so it was a tough debut to be given. I think some are expecting too much. Yes he struggled defensively but he didn't get much protection from midfield and Grandison isn't that much more experienced outside him. His passing was OK and his shot was good (as Huracan asked, when did we last see a centre back shoot?) He looks a good footballer to me but my main reservation is whether centre back's the right position for him. He won little in the air and doesn't look big enough to do much better. He might be more effective at full back or as a holding midfielder. But don't hang the lad out to dry on the back of a tough debut in an ultimately demoralised team.

One bad result at home, and i mean bad "result" and the post mortems start. If we look back at the game, we started off very well, in fact we produced the best football at home for some weeks. Some of our passing and movement was superb. Unfortunately the chances that came our way, we missed. If we had scored first, i am sure they would have collapsed and we would have won comfortably. Young Goldson , IMO, had a fair debut. Seemed assured on the ball, played it simple, seemed strong enough and was confident enough to beat a man when needed. Yes, his positioning was questionable at times, but for his first full game i am confident we have a player on our books. Far better than young Hooman. For me, the disappointing aspect was that at 2 nil down, we lost confidence, shape and looked a beaten side. Before (Charlton) we fought to the end and held a belief that maybe we could still get something from the game. We missed too many chances, and for me Harrold and Wright have got to deliver. Harrold works hard and wins the ball with his back to goal, but his touch is off, and his goal ratio, for a striker, is poor. One last point, for me , the most disappointing part of the night was the booing at half time and full time. Very poor, along with the constant sniping from some at young Taylor. What will be will be, lets get behind the team, please.

Good to see some common sense being expressed by the last two posters, and Liam earlier. A huge over reaction by many to what was a decent enough debut for the youngster in what was a very difficult game to come into.
