Utter B****cks. I would say there is more team spirit than in recent years certainly than last year- the older experienced players seem to have integrated better- and didnt I notice the spontaneous group hug before the Telford game? Anyone who saw the players reaction after the Barnet game wouldnt be questionning the team spirit

I disagree Paul.
Any team can show spirit and togetherness when things are going well e.g. Barnet but my real concern is when they're not.
How many times have been proven this season that we have the spirit to come back from a precarious situation? Not many.
You only have to look at Telford midweek. Town go a goal down, heads drop, and we don't get another look in.
Compare that to the attitude of other club's around the division. Exeter are a prime example and you only have to read (or have seen) their attitude to the game at Gay Meadow or in the previous week against Leigh RMI. Their manager Eamon Dooland personified the spirit at that club in the final few minutes of last weekend's game.
Even look at Telford - go a goal down in extra time away at Canvey yet have the guile to get an equaliser.
Our team, squad, whoever, lacks such spirit when the chips are down. Would Exeter and co have laid down and died when going a goal down at Stevenage or Dagenham? I doubt it.

Ant and TelfordShrews were talking about the motivation that is needed from Jimmy Quinn himself, on the way home from Telford Match. I also think that Tinno as TEAM CAPTAIN should motivate the team, and get behind them with some of his spirt!

I dont disagree with much that you say but your comments are rather better thought out and articulate than the letter in the paper. He questions whether the players get on- I say in the main, yes. You say we dont have the team spirit to come back when we are down- I agree but that's arguably not down to team spirit but lack of belief, lack of confidence- it is an important measure- coming from behind to draw or win- we were experts at it when we won Div 3- I watched a few games that year when we were down and all the fans just knew we would come back .3-2 away at Bury- fantastic

Yep absolutely. I do think it's the manager's job to install such characteristics into his squad, JQ hasn't managed to do that.

All I would add is that the win at Barnet could well end up as the saviour of the season. A loss there would have meant that you would not make the play-offs IMO.

didnt I notice the spontaneous group hug before the Telford game? that was so pathetic imo. they were like around each other for 2 secs and sort of wandered off as if they didnt know what they just did. just trying to copy other teams imo but if u cant do it unless u mean it

The letter is b******s in my opinion.
Simply because team spirit and players being friends aren't necessarily the same thing at all (look at what down with Chester this season).
What is important is that each player respects the job that the others do on the pitch, and are working in an environment where they are able to give 100% on the pitch each and every game.
We're nowhere near that at the moment.
Anyway, why does the lead singer of Primal Scream give a toss about whether we get in the play-offs......
