I can't believe that someone who claims to have been at the match can describe Wright's performance as "woeful." Unbelievable. Also, i recall seeing Wright cross with his left foot on more than one occasion, so WindsorJnr is not only unbelievable but inaccurate as well. I really enjoyed watching the wingers today and thought that both showed superb control, desire to run at the defence and used the space intelligently. They, along with the rest of the team, also showed a desire and, when needed, tenacity to retain possession of the ball which was a joy and relief to see

What really impressed me about Mark Wright was his work rate. On several occasions he tracked back and got some tackles in. I also liked the way he just didn't lump balls in the box, if nothing was on he was happy to keep the ball, pass it to another player and try to work another opening.
Ainsworth is the sort of player who can do nothing for 89 minutes and 59 seconds and then produce a moment of pure quality, which can win a game or salvage a draw. His cross for the second goal was quality, one of three pieces of genuine quality today, which lead to goals.
Considering the back 4 are virtual strangers, I thought they did very well against a big and strong front 3, shame about the mix up for the Bradford goal, but lets get them out of the way now.
Bradford reminded me of us last season, one paced apart from the first 20 minutes when they passed the ball well, one dimensional. I realise they have players out injured and players today who maybe weren't fully fit, but they need to improve massively and under Peter Taylor I'm sure they will.

Wright was excellent today.
Also, when the sending off happened Simpson would have been incapable of making the substitutions that Turner made today.

Overall a very solid, good performance with ability being shown that has potential to get better as the season progresses. It was nice to see some pace from the wingers and some of the passing was championship standard. Some nerves but i feel we will have ironed them out in no time once they gel and become settled.
Smith- Looked very confident with some good takes and I think he tipped the Bradford free kick round the post with a stunning fingertip save? His kicking looked a little bit shakey but I feel the wind didn't help and this will improve soon.
Sadler- At the start appeared very nervous but after 10 minutes settled down and then looked very composed looking for short passes and picking out some good passes for the wingers. When there was danger he appeared relaxed and even under pressure looked for simple, on the ground football rather than just booting it out.
Sharps- I felt was sensational. Even after he made a mistake for the first goal he then didn't let it get to him and kept playing showing a good strong mental attitude. He was constantly shouting commands to everyone and looking for short, on the ground passes. He was a true captain today and I hope to see more of the same; Even when we were 1 man down he held firm and organised everyone well.
O'Donnell- Was very good like Sharps keeping passes on the floor however it's difficult to make a judgement on him because, compared to Sharps, he wasn't really challenged as much.
Raven- Won some really good headers the likes of which were as good as Coughlan. He got some good power behind them, deflecting balls away and linked up well with the wingers looking for short passes and was not afraid to go forward with some good crosses ino the box especially in the first half.
Wright- I have noooooo idea what game Windsor was watching because he HAS to be one of the best players of the match and was certainly the MOTM in the first half. He took the ball from everywhere running not just along the wings but through the centre, starting off some great attacking moves. He provided superb crosses in and although he didn't score was not afraid to have a go and it won't be long, with confidence, until those go in.
McIntyre- Until the sending off did ok. Unfortunatly he didn't seem used to the 'play it on the ground' type of football and this showed massively sometimes booting the ball away instead of being the catalyst. However he did play nice little short passes and wasn't afraid to tackle or want the ball. The red card was stupid and at his age and experience should know better than to lash out. We we're 3-1 up and surely you'd let those things go even if it was malicious which it didn't appear to be. When McAllister gains fitness I can't see him holding down a first team spot if he carries on like that.
Disley- Always looked like he wanted the ball even if the Bradford player tackled him he would never give up and chase after them to get it back showing a huge amount of commitment and effort. He picked out some great passes and always moved the ball like a good midfielder should.
Ainsworth- This is probably the only time I feel the player who didn't get all the goals was MOTM. While Robinson took his chances he must have made 5 other great scoring opportunities. he was pacey, ran at defenders, always moved around wanting the ball. He looked good on either side and tbh didn't do anything wrong. A huge amount of effort and skill involved in every move he made. While Robinson was a great talent I'm taking into consideration Ainsworth was not as match fit and yet played all 90 minutes and looked as good from the first till the last
Harold- Always caused trouble for the Bradford back 4, but in the first 10 minutes couldn't get hold of the ball. After this however his headers and passes were direct and perfect for Robinson to play off and he looked as if he was giving 110%. Always looked like he was going to win every ball and place that ball where it was needed, my only real problem was I expected him to score the free header in the box but that's football. I think he was nervous to begin with but soon settled in.
Robinson- Always wanted the ball with some great first touches and finishing to match. The chip was one of the best goals I have seen at the Meadow and always looked dangerous with the Bradford back 4 unable to cope with his pace crossed with the height of Harold with the skill of the wingers. I hope to see more of the same and while many on this board have pondered whether we need a 20+ goal striker, maybe we already have one?

I hope to see more of the same and while many on this board have pondered whether we need a 20+ goal striker, maybe we already have one? Think I saw you, about 2pm in the Salop Leisure Stand concourse My view on the match. A very discouraging start with Disley, Sadler and Raven struggling in particular. We needed the wake-up call, and got it. After that, we were in control. Didn't see Jake's first goal properly as was in the SL Stand. His other two were fantastic. First one, a great cross by Ainsworth and a super header. Second, a perfect chip over the 'keeper. Great atmosphere, from both stands. Bradford fans contributed well to that as well, up until the equaliser. Great following though, and we'll probably not see more that that come to the North Stand this season. Ben Smith looked very assured in goal. I was surprised when he was selected, but he didn't make any mistakes from what I can see. Mark Wright was brilliant, as was Lionel. Harrold definitely did his bit for the cause and was very impressed with. Sadler, Raven and Disley picked up from their slow start to put in steady performances. McIntyre's red card looked like the right decision from where I was. Did he just kick out at the player? I don't know if the bloke said something to him but still, no excuse. Other than that, he had a solid game. Sharps had a good game, not particularly outstanding, but did his job well. I sort of agree with what someone said about his pace, but i'm sure that'll get better as the season goes on. Overall, a truly great day. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and am even more optimistic for the season.

I was a little worried at first. We looked very flat to start with and then that mix-up that led to the Bradford goal had me thinking here we go again. But they bounced back, and after the equaliser we were easily the better team, good passing, good vision, two good wingers who also had accurate crosses (the one for Robinson's second was inch perfect). Couldn't ask for a better opening game.

Top day rounded off by some great hand sign interaction on the m1 with Bradford fans, most of there fans seemed to be indicating 2, but i did reassure them it was 3 we scored!!
Not quite a near post thing of beauty but the first goal of GTs 2nd stint had to come from a corner!
No doubt some areas of our game can be improved upon after a nervy start but today should all be about positives . Enjoy the ride everyone with GT at the helm its going to be an exciting season!
Goals have just been on sky sports and Robinsons third is an absolute cracking goal.

Very impressive and very p**sed Solid at back (apart from howler for goal, they happen). Looked good going forward and most impressive was the fact that they looked like they had man sent off not us.McAllister orchestrated the keepball brilliantly. Early days but very promising.

We have to give them time. There were a few groans by me when passes went astray. We got better as the match went on. My highlight was the Lino pretending to scratch his back with his middle finger up as I piled the abuse on him. I had hardly said a word....

The team played very very well as a unit. After a dodgi start i thought nothing had changed but as soon as we started passing the ball Bradford looked completely lost. I'll be blasted as a pesemist, but, Sharps and O'Donnell looked very shakey. Saddler didn't really have a good game and his partnership with Wright was non-existant. Wright played woeful, he ran at the defense but dodged out of so many challenges and headers. He couldn't shoot either. Ainsworth was absolute class, made the difference, had two brilliant assists for a striker who finally showed why he should be starting with top notch finishing. Harrold looked very decent to me also. Ben Smith had a good game, the goal was not his fault, the defense were opened up too easy. Disley and Mcintyre played very well but Mcintyre let himself down with the red card. McaLister looked very good also =] Hopefully, we can get past the shakeyness and put in magnificent displays like we did in the second half. Well I have no idea what game you were watching... Wright was fantastic. WOW this was better than expected, I haven't enjoyed a game like have today what a game and the atmosphere was electrifying in the South stand! Jake Robinson is the player to get us 20+ goals this season I think, never thought he had a bad season last term tbh, just a bit unlucky at times and Simpson didn't give him enough chances and with him falling out with Simpson and his personal problems. Ainsworth and Wrights skill down the wing looks very encouraging but I fear teams may plan to stop them and they get found out. Both were very skillfull and pacey, they will be a defenders nightmare this season. One touch football was quality and the skills they were pulling off when down to ten men is pure entertainment. Off this performance I think we're good enough for promotion, we are no longer an average bunch of players running round like a lost lemons hoofing it up the pitch. We look organised, everybody knew what they were doing, anticipating peoples moves, we were just one step ahead of the game. For once we actually look like a team. Well done Turner for getting the team playing like this and may it continue for the other 45 league matches. We had the pace and were good in wide areas which Bradford weren't (apart from Evans up front)

Well, what a breath of fresh air today was! Two wingers with pace, skill and two feet was an absolute joy to behold. Wright my MoM but lots of contenders and little to fault, whilst there was plenty to savour. I was bored last season, can't see that being the case this season somehow.

The first 25 odd mins was very shaky, but after that was impressed with the teams composure despite going one down. After going down we seemed to really settle in and the back four were rock solid. Robinson is of course the hero of the day but Wright was my MOTM - he worked really hard all game - although a shame he lost his bottle to get us a fourth towards the end. Him and Ainsworth look very dangerous up and down the wings. But overall.... it was refreshing to see some good honest passing and attacking football, and I hope that result will put us in good stead

I'm confused as to how you can come to the conclution that Wright had a 'woeful' game but yet Mcalister looked good? How long was he on the field? Ten minutes, not saying he did anything wrong but you cant say he did better than Wright. Wright was our best player throughout the game in my opinion and posed a constant threat aswel as Ainsworth. Very good performance all round. First 20 minutes the back 4 looked a little shakey, especially O'donnell and Sadler but once they settles they both grew into the game. Good recovery from 1-0 down. Robinsons finishing was very impressive. Disley and Macca were superb in the center before the sending off. Ainsworth was class, so quick but yet has that quality final ball that most wingers at this level lack. Harrold lead the line brilliantly and think he could play a big role this year. Very happy with the win and performance but i wont get to over exited just yet, we have only played 1 game after all.

Thought we were lucky to go in level at half time after a slow start and some woeful final balls. Second half there was a transformation and some of the best football I have seen from a Town team in many years.
It is far to early to get carried away but this team is in my opinion crying out for an old style centre forward an Alf Wood, Gary Stevens or a John Manning.
As the season progresses we are going to need more midfielders getting in the box which was missing from yesterday.
I still think we are 1 player short of a play off place and possibly 2 off automatic.

You bunch of fickle people, think your going to win the league after one game! Bunch of cnuts! Glad to see you had nothing better to do at 2am in the morning........

Really impressed today, good solid performance in the second half, thought Smith, Raven and Sharps looked a bit unsure at first not being decisive enough in the first half which i guess is to be expected and with time they'll get a better understanding however 2nd half the back four were excellent.
The wingers had really good games despite being marked pretty well but when they got the chance to get a cross in or run at someone they did very well against 2 pretty solid looking fullbacks they will have alot easier days this season which is really promising. Was a bit worried first half that no one was getting forward in the middle which meant they had 2-3players closing down Ainsworth and Wright everytime they got the ball but second half that wasn't a problem!
Though Harrold was excellent was strong, good first touch, worked hard, made a nuisance of himself and had excellent vision with some great lay offs particularly the play between him Ainsworth and Wright towards the end was pretty exceptional.
Good to see some good solid substitutions made by Turner at the right times and really helped the cause which is a massive improvement on last year as i'm sure most will agree changing things and making substitutions at the right time weren't Simmo's strong points.
Also thought Mcallister looked good when he came on and as i said elsewhere i imagine had he been match fit would have started before Mcintyre.
Lots of positives only Negative bein Macca's idiocy. 1 down 45 to go!
