Well now Ainsworth has signed and Turner saying he is unlikely to bring anyone else to the club (Tranmere Post Match Interview), I think now is the timer to consider who will make the starting team on saturday. My prediction: (4-4-2) GK- Smith RB- Raven CB- Sharps (C) CB- SCS LB- Sadler RW- Ainsworth CM- Disley CM- McAllister LW- Wright ST- Harold ST- Robinson Any other predictions?

I predict the same line up apart from Neal for Smith and O'Donnell for SCS, just based on those friendlies
Of course, I'm not sure how match fit Ainsworth and McAllister are......

McCallister is far from match fit. I expect Macca to start and yeah Leslie on the bench for me at best

I'm a fan of Leslis if he is bad as some peaple think Why is he still at Town This is his third manger to play under so he must be rated or would have been out the door long before now

There is absolutley nojustification for Leslie being part of the first XI at present. I think with so many of the new players not havinghad a full pre-season we are going to see alot of substitutions around the 60 minute mark. Leslie may be one of those but if we have now got 2 players who can beat men out wide, why would you bring Steve in with his very poor dead ball delivery and lack of pace?

That said, I was impressed with Leslie on Saturday, always looking to take his man on.
I hope he never takes another single set piece in his life though

I'm not convinced playing 4-4-2 with Disley and Mc.Intyre in the centre would be good enough. So i'm going for a 4-3-3 formation. Team is
1 Smith 2 Raven 3 Sadler 4 Sharps 5 O'Donnell 6 Sherriff 7 Mc.Intrye 8 Disley 9 Ainsworth 10 Wright 11 Harrold
subs Van den Broek, Robinson, Bradshaw, Mc.Allister, Leslie, Holden, C.Neal.
Solid look to the midfield with Sherriff, Disley and Mc.Intyre. Ainsworth and Wright can concentrate on attacking without the worry of tracking back.

Turner has been saying good things about Robinson and as he has not bought in a similar striker, I expect him to start alongside Harrold. Whatever the team, you can often judge the strength of a team by whos on the bench and we will definitely have some decent players waiting to come on

I would love to see VDB playing in a free role in the gap behind Harrold, with a middle three of Disley, Ainsworth and Wright, and then Macca sitting in front of the centre backs and kicking anything that moves.
McAllister will definitely have a run in the side at some stage, while Robinson / Bright easily give us a switch to 4-4-2 off the bench if we need it.

McCallister will start playing for us after a few games, he's just not match fit at the moment.

McCallister gasn't joined to sit on the bench but I understand what people are trying to say that he may not be match fit, spoke to him and had my picture taken with him at the opening day and was always open to questions from fans and said that he wanted first team football and is aiming to help us get promoted. Don't think Shane signed a new 2 year deal to sit on the subs bench either, I think O' Donnell will only be back up. Wright and Van Den Broek are too good for the bench.
I'll go for:
**********Smith**********
Raven*Sharps*Sherriff*Sadler
Ainsworth*VDB**Disley*Wright
*****Robinson**Harrold*****
McCallister and Bradshaw to come off the bench and to start games in a couple of weeks.

Think the good thing about the squad is that we have the option to play different formations and styles of play.
Even within the 4-2-2 set up you have the option to go very defensive -say - Mcintyre, Disley, McCallister and Leslie, or a very attacking midfield of Wright, Ainsworth, Van Den Broek and McCallister. One of the problems with last years team was you could change players, but not really the style of play. This year we seem to have more options and that has to be a good thing.

For the 1st time in a long time it's nice to see strength in depth no matter what the starting eleven.

Neal Raven Sharps Sheriff Sadler Ainsworth Mcintyre VDB Wright Harrold Robinson The fact that in the last two home friendlies, Robinson and Harrold have been paired in hope, I think, of finding an understanding of each other, suggests they are the front two to start. Wingers are more than likely to swap flanks throughout the game so it doesn't really matter who starts on which side. I'd like to see Benji ahead of Disley, I think he's someone able to win a game, do something a bit different and could be a real gem, though behind the striker role seems more suitable. And Mcintyre has to stay in the eleven, he's been superb in pre season.

Thonly issues for me are: O'Donnell or Sherrif to partner Sharps? Ainswoth to start or come off the bench? Disley and McIntyre or start McAllister? I expect Neal Raven--Sharps--O'Donnell--Sadler VDB--Disley--McIntyre--Wright Robinson--Harrold with a possible subs bench of: Smith, Holden, Cansdell-Sherrif, McAllister, Ainsworth, Neal/Leslie, Bradshaw Never mind the first team, that sub's bench is promising! Only slight negative is that I expect only Bradhaw to be involved out of all the young players, but it's a long season and I expect they may be needed later on in the year

Like the look of this alot OS! Very attack minded with alot of pace going forward. Without seeing any of the pre-season games I can't comment on form other than what i've heard. If McIntyre has been as good as some have said then maybe he should start ahead of Disley in this 4-4-2. Other question mark I guess is over who is our Number 1. Personally like alot have said i'd love to see VdB given a free role behind the forwards. He's big, quick and direct, everything a centre back hates! Time will tell. The squad is certainly looking good, with good depth and a nice few options to change a game from the bench. Bring on the Bantams!
