All the more reason as to why selling 300 season tickets is so pathetic from a club/city with such history. No wonder your "god" (your quote) GT has moved to Shrewsbury.

Again I hate to get into the whole "biger than you" argument because it doesnt really mean anything but can you please elaborate on "will always be bigger than you because of our history" What is this wonderful history of Hereford? Genuine question, all I know your famous for is that one win against Newcastle but I must admit that I know very little else of your history On another thing, I do love the way you Hereford fans are obsessed with you being classed as a city compared to us being a town

"hereford will always be bigger than shrewsbury because of your history". well lets put that too the test. s. founded 1886 h founded 1924 s. Second Division (now Football League Championship): Best Season: Twice 8th, 10 seasons at that level h. Welsh Cup winners 1891, 1938, 1977, 1979, 1984, 1985; runners up 1931, 1948, 1980 h. Welsh Cup: Winners 19890 Runners-Up 1968, 1976, 1981 s. elected to the league 1950 but since that date 1 season of non league football h. elected to the league 1972 but since that date 9 seasons of non league football for all fuss about knocking a top flight team out of the cup that hereford go on about with newcastle, we can give you everton and man city and everton again in the league cup OK. More years in the league, higher and longer at a higher level in the league, better cup record, fa, league, fl trophy and welsh i rest my case

Interesting post there
Over to you Hereford fans to explain why you will always be the bigger club..........
Im giving very short odds on the response including "Ronnie Radford" and "we are a city"

Further to what the Witchfinder posted, I'm surprised to see how few times the clubs have played each other since they joined us in the Football League in 1972. www.soccerbase.com/head2.sd?team2id=1216&team1id=2325Add the conference season results (4-1 to us and 1-2 to them) and it seems we've had the upper hand. I stand to be corrected but in all that time, I think they've only been in a higher division than us on two occasions; 1977 when they went up to the old Div 2 and a couple of years ago when they were promoted to League 1. On both occasions they came straight down.

Just for reference Shrewsbury is the biggest town in Shropshire. Telford and Wrekin is a separate authority and has been since the 1990s with it's own council and tax raising powers.

Totally untrue, but how you wish it was true. I get around the country quite a lot, and am always surprised how much people know about and respect Shrewsbury Town. Only a couple of weeks back, a Leyton Orient fan was heard saying, what a cracking side we had in the early 80s, in what is now The Championship, playing lovely attacking, passing football, under the guidance of GRAHAM TURNER. I reckon your loss is our gain. We frequently beat the "bigger clubs then, including wins at Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, Wolves, WBA, Birmingham etc, as well as stuffing 5 past Leeds at home. Also, I well remember us beating Huddersfield 5-1, twice in the same season.

Ok, Hereford are a much bigger club than Shrewsbury with a greater history, the town and football club are more well known across the globe than Shrewsbury whilst Hereford is generally more exciting name than Shrewsbury
Happy now?

Great thread................. always amazed when Hereford supporters claim they have a more illustrious history than us. As WG has shown in detail above, you would understand their claims if there was one, yes just one competition that they had achieved more than us. Currently on the field the margin between the two teams is narrow but last season was yet another season in our history that we finished above them. And off the field, well the difference between the clubs is now very significant

I'm surprised he has not mentioned that an ex Shrewsbury player got himself sent off and gifted the play off semi to Aldershot.

Just for reference Shrewsbury is the biggest town in Shropshire. Telford and Wrekin is a separate authority and has been since the 1990s with it's own council and tax raising powers. I also gather that such places as Wellington, Madeley and Oakengates get rather grumpy about being classed a town within a town. Just to on the way back from Birmingham I see Wellington has a nice sign in its railway station which say's "Wellington Shropshires Finest Market Town" (Which I disagree it is, but agree it is a seperate town from Telford, may reason for this is there is actually green space seprating Telford from wellington). I'm sure that such places like Shawbirch would consider themselves more Wellington than Telford so in theory Telford smaller than it actually is, Infact Telford as a community don't exist at all its just a big shopping mall in the middle of several reasonable sized towns.

Hereford cathedral city famous for the cathedral, mappa mundi, cider, hereford cattle, racecourse and the men with black masks on(wikepedia) Very selective about Hereford via Wikipedia. You missed the best bit also from Wikipedia. "Away from the historic centre, Hereford is a curate's egg of a city, with the odd attractive enclave cancelled out by ugly modern estates, rundown, 1930s streets and charmless superstores. In planning terms, the city is a mess, with little sense of structure or purpose. It always seems to take longer to get from A to B than it should. As a cultural centre, Hereford feels like an underachiever, considering its many natural advantages. There is no university and, despite pockets of bohemian loucheness, no great sense of intellectual vitality. Other, similarly sized cathedral cities in Britain pack more of a punch. It is hard to dislike Hereford, but the city has an air of complacency."

Using your point of reference, Wikipedia, Hereford has a population of 55700. The population of Shrewsbury is 70689, so we are bigger than you - FACT. If you bother to read the text, there is a lot more to our beautiful large town, than just a flower show. You may also notice a rather nice aerial photo of our stadium. I must have missed the picture of your ancient ruin, when reading about your small city.

Graham Turner=No fans(Dont like um) Hereford utd=New manager(New era)[/quote That's hilarious, everyone here and down your end know Turner is a good enough manager to get either of us out of this division your just jealous he's chose us. This debate is quite funny to look at Hereford have achieved barely anything, you never will achieve anything either. One season in League one and you finish with one of the most miserable points per game ratio's in recent history, you've nothing to be proud of after last season either we had a dreadful season and still finished higher than you.
