Just been reflecting on our summer signings thus far and just realised we haven't spent any money! Sharp- Free Sadler- Loan Harold- Free Wright- Loan Does this mean we won't be spending any money or just waiting for a big money signing? Discuss

No point spending money when not needed.
To be honest as the squad stands I think we would at least make the Playoffs.

Turner said it himself, it's about "managing expectations."

To be honest as the squad stands I think we would at least make the Playoffs. Really? - I see no more than a mid table squad at the moment. I don't think we will concede many goals, especially if the keeper situation is sorted but I can't see us scoring many either - that may well change between now and August 7th though.

Perhaps , the question we should be asking is "Have we any money to spend ? " and then perhaps "If not , why not ?"

Money is available and GT has no qualms about offering a fee when it's required. He's done this at least once over the last few weeks but we've lost out to a club in a higher division than ourselves.
There will be more players coming in so it's just a question of will we be able to get them on loan/free or having to dip into the kitty to bring them here.

Crickey Hoover - where were you when I needed a bit of support :-) Am afraid that is where I see us too at the moment - mid table. I am hoping for creative midfielder and striker .... plus some of GTs sexy loanees (remeber that McDonald?) Unless TB turns into a goal machine or the magic ingredient does turn out to be GT, then apart from being a bit stronger at the back - we are much the same. Hope I am wrong and looking forward to having a look tomorrow.

' You will never win anything with kids ! '
Well that has been proved wrong ...................... ..........................If you have the skill it doesn't matter if you are 16 , 26 or 36 , you have the same chance as everybody else .

Add Raven to that list and maybe ben smith if offered a contract a job well done GT. I am sure with the money saved so far by the additions he brought in there will be a lump to splash when the time is right. There is plenty of attacking options already which you can change from last year to this year VDB, Bradshaw, Harold,Wright, and feel Leslie, Robinson, Bright did not really have a lot of chances under Simpson and may produce the goods for GT. Not 2 sure with Elder an Neal but a new manager and all that you never no.

Just because the money's there does not mean it has to be spent. I beliee all of the signings made so far will all be astute signings over the course of the season. Added to this I believe Turner can get more out of some of last season's under-performing players, s there is definitley reason for optimism already

During GT's 15 years at Hereford he paid a fee TWICE. Ben Smith, goalkeeper, will be one of five this week.

He's already doing a better job than Simpson.

Didn't we bit decent money on a player a couple of weeks back? Lets not spend money for the sake of it, if theres no-one out there we could get at (a) A decent price (b)And significantly improve the team in an area. Then why bother as we don't want more deadwood on the books. Plenty of decent loan players available and free players out there as stop gaps and im quite happy sticking with that policy until "the one" or maybe even two or three presents themselves.

Got to agree with Hoover, currently the side is in my opinion weaker than the end of last season and unless Turner is a miracle worker or more player arrive before Saturday week a mid table finish seems likely.
Button has not been replaced. Defence is comparable with last season. Murray and Dunfield have not been replaced. Strikers are comparable with last season.
The one apparent bright spot is Wright but he is only here till January

From what i heard people saying with the squad we have now we should be top 7.

Be strange going into admin after taking in over 1/2 million in season ticket sales.
Amazes me how Hairy foot fans manage to type with fingers on their feet and eyes where their nose should be.

Martin if you read my comments on Just Back you will see that I still feel that we are a mid table team that will draw too many games. Yes we played nice football but were far too slow at progressing into an attacking position, which will in league games give defences time to protect their goals. We still need someone in midfield who will score 7+ goals and assist 10+ in addition we need a consistent striker, who will get 15+ goals. Get those and maybe we might be looking at a top 7 finish.

Honestly Martin I doubt it, we did not create more than a couple of chances in the box and that is where goals come from. Another 2nd division side would have closed us down much faster than Coventry did and Coventry were poor.

Another 2nd division side would have closed us down much faster than Coventry did and Coventry were poor. But then if the opposition played with higher tempo and cloed us down round the pitch, this in turn could create more gaps to exploit, may have allowed us to get in behind the back line more often
