Think the tournament organisers and going to have to rethink this. Either less games, or allow more subs. Stupid to have a whole tournament and not have a final. seems like if leyton orient got through, they would have dropped out too. Still good run out for the boys, and the injuries aren't serious by the looks. Roll on tuesday...

Whilst the structure and rules of the tournament are a farce and I can completeley understand the frustation of everyone at STFC, what I would say is did they not look at these before the tournament started?

Good to see we won. Not suprised to see us pull out, it's not worth the risk. However it does make the whole thing pretty pointless and I hope nobody decided to travel up for the semi and the possible final!

What action is going to be taken against those clubs constantly flouting the substitute ruling?
As I understand it, Blackpool had done it previously and both them and Orient again did it in the semi-final.
The trophy should be Shrewsbury's by default if anyone REALLY cared.

Regarding the sub rule. If we are being told one thing and other clubs are doing another then we have every right to moan and I applaud GT for standing up for us
However I cant back the club on the fixture pil up for playing today, tomorrow and then Tuesday. They must have known the risk when agreeing to play in the tournament. Although I guess the 3 sub rule does make it worse
Wookey, I see your good friend Parka is on over-drive on this

A real shame we cant take our place in the final against a Premier League side, but I fully understand the reasons for GT's decision behind this, it seems absurd that the semi finals and final are only 24 hours apart for instance, this has the potential to be a good tournament but the games need to be spread out a little bit more, I cant see us entering this competition again though.
I presume H&W will take our place in the final instead and good luck to them if they are, Salop can leave the tournament with their heads held high having won all three games, just a shame we cant test ourselves against Blackpool tomorrow, could have been a cracking game......

When GT agreed to it, it was 5, then a day before the comp started it was 3. The fixture pile up wouldn't have been that bad if it was 5. As Blackpool cheated I think the trophy should be awarded to us.

Surely if its being fair, Havant and Waterlooville would take our place. They've kept to the rules and they havant (excuse the pun) pulled out like ourselves.

Didn't GT use more than 3 subs against Rushden? I hear he played the 'Ollie' game with shirts being changed at half time, stand to be corrected but that's what I was told.

This Parka character posts would be to bad if they were actually amusing and his inaccuracies could be forgiven if they were.
I imagine he's the sort of character who laughs loudly at his own jokes/musing/bull , while those who do laugh are probably laughing at him......or something.
Anyhow, was GT here when we committed to playing the tournament, I can't remember.

No wonder GT wants to pull out - too many games in a short space of time.

Can see GT's thinking but not sure it will make it less annoying for the fans down in Devon.
Being honest I was a bit dissapointed with the coverage of the tournament - granted it was pre-season but it would have been nice to have had some more regular updates during the games.
I must add that the photo galleries and interviews on Shrewsweb were excellent.

feel for the fans there, especially of they have only gone down for the weekend.
saying that the whole thing seems to have turned into a farce with first the 3 or 5 sub issues then the fact teams just threw on as many subs as they wanted, add to that teams pulling out and it seems like a very badly run.
glad GT has the bottle to pull us out when he realised we were going to gain nothing else from it.

Good luck to Havant. Hope they beat those cheating here today gone tomorrow Premiership upstarts. They have lost any goodwill I felt towards them for next season.

It may not have been much, but by my reckoning this tournament would nevertheless have been the most prestigious trophy my team has won since I was 9.
