Just watched the MLS game between the newly formed Philadelphia Union against Seattle Sounders. Someone started a thread a while ago about their kit being similar to our spinal tap kit and new stadium where they finally played their first game christening the new stadium with a 3-1 win. Noticed lots of blue and amber checked flags similar to the ones i've seen at GM and the New meadow Really impressive looking stadium apparently 2/3rds of the stadium have a view of the bridge, 30 luxury suites, 11000 full service restaurant a party deck where you can stand drink and watch the game with a view over the river. Awesome, that bridge in the background makes for a good photo. Like the cup holders on the seats, nice touch.

Some really good pictures gone up the bridge really gives it lots of character. The game sounded like there was a really decent atmosphere. Especially from their so called ''The River End'' (in the second link) where all the die hards and singers go and thats where the players come out aswell, i'm sure just making it a more intimidating atmosphere for the visitors. As a foot note how bad is that Seattle kit! Link------> Game Photos Link------> Game Photos 2

Really spectacular opening to that video with the bridge in the background. Looking at the pre game pics would be good if the club could (weather permitting) get some pre match events and games outside the ground around the family stand like they do, do it at all american sports events to entertain all the people down to the ground earlier.

Don't forget the american season is played in the summer, but there is no reason why the club can't put on such events up until september and again april until the end of the season. The first match of the season against Bradford would be ideal to try something like this. May be worth pushing something forward to the club like this.

I wish out matchday experienced looked a bit like that.
Beers in the sun and games for the kids, awesome.
Philadelphia was already one of my favourite US cities. I could handle Saturday afternoons down by the river there.

This twinning malarkey have two teams ever been twinned before? Its unofficial but have Everton been twinned with Everton in Chile? Not sure on this though. How would we go about twinning football clubs?

Think it was started by Everton fans there's a few clubs started by British clubs so have similar names there's a Crystal Palace in the U.S somewhere. Highly recommend Philly to anyone going or thinking of going great city with lots of history and great architecture...for the U.S. anyway I've followed the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team since i was a kid and was lucky enough to go to a couple of Flyers games one at home and one away, they take sport very seriously in that city the Wachovia was voted the most intimidating place to play sport in America. I have no doubt the Union will be a massive force in the MLS with time. They've worked really hard to get an MLS team and are pretty fanatical already and the river end looks great with all the flags etc. I think i know a flyers fan who i believe goes to watch them and think is in the Sons of Ben which is the name of the group who worked tirelessly to bring a team to philly will drop him an email. Slightly off topic but have we had fans over from Shrewsbury's twinned town Zutphen recently? For some reason can remember from when i was very very young loads of them coming to Gay Meadow for a game.

On the STFC facebook page, theres a few Union fans joined They seem happy to do so, some have even mentioned that they took Town to the Premiership on FIFA 2010! Last year i was thinking of doing something like this with Portland Timbers and i have a mate who lives in Oregon who supports them, but because of the colour scheme, the riverside/riverend thingy and how this is starting to gel a little, I think i'm gonna do the honourable thing Philly UNION all the way now in the MLS!!! They just hammered Seattle Sounders 3-1, next game is against Chivas USA away on Saturday.

Where have you been the last week or so, we are getting interest from Philadelphia, its a bit of fun more than anything that can see endless possibilities, and friendship. Check town's facebook page and see for yourself, its a good thing.

Sounds great. A Philly flag at the Meadow would be a nice touch or their very own sheep in a Philly shirt (Philomena?!) for this season's away trips...
