At least he has some experience at what it takes to get promoted to league 1 - unlike us or any of the last few managers we've had [/img]
Peters got promoted with Preston, as did Simpson with Carlisle.

With England being so terrible at the world cup, when will some realise about the merits of getting over excited?
A season is only over when the final whistle is blown. We have not even started yet!
This is not a new thing, Ratcliffe, Quinn, Peters and Simpson have all departed in the last few years.
Please realise WOW signings do not necessarily get promotion.
How many teams start League Two very well and end up in the promotion chase at the end of the season?
Its a marathon and not a sprint.
Keep calm everyone.
All will be OK

I know B&A likes a good backlash but the timescale's getting a bit too short these days.
When the anti-Simpson people wanted/got their way, there were all sorts of comments about how a new manager needed time to build his team, bring on the young players etc and, of course, everyone was going to be patient, it'll take 2 or 3 seasons ....
Now, before a ball is kicked, we're discussing panic over the perceived lack of signings. What happened to patience, what happened to developing young players, what happened to common sense?
I'd love to see us promoted but we've chosen to make a big change and start again, so are some of us expecting instant success? They'll say not, but they are really.
In answer to a silly question, I'll panic if we're in a relegation position and games are running out or we go into administration. Apart from that, there won't be any need to panic.

and (perhaps more worryingly) several 'targets' choosing to go elsewhere. Can I ask who these players are we have missed out on? The only one I know of is this Bradley to sign for Rotherham and Sharps turned them down to sign for us so we are equal there. As far as I can tell, people are linking us with so many players on here with little evidence other than they might be available and in most instances, used to play for Turner at Hereford Unfortuantely when people see all these names being linked they take it as gospel so if the deal doesnt happen in 24 hours then its panic stations and all doom and gloom

As I said on another thread, the reason people are probably worried is because on a daily basis they are hearing that we are going to be signing player A, B, C, D, E, F etc etc but then nothing happens.
Its the pub rumour-mill, mixed in with the internet rumour mill and people sadly believe everything they hear as gospel
Over the past 2 months Ive been told a hell of a lot of players we are trying to sign, we havent signed any of them (yet) and the only one that has come out and been true in we were trying to sign him was Skarz.
Now in some peoples eyes it might mean that we have been rejected by lots of players, in others it might mean that all these rumours are complete bollox

I think part of the reason people are panicking is that football wise they are a bit bored. There isn't anything else other than transfers this time of year there has to be something to talk about.
As said before I hope that we don't rely too much on loan signings because it would sound hypocritical considering that we berated hereford for it. Ideally just 2-3 to freshen things up a bit.
Plenty of time to sign players though, another month yet before we get underway and almost 2 untill the transfer window shuts.

Very much agree with you. I was one who wanted Simpson gone and that's happened. I don't see this as anytime to panic, it's utterly ridiculous!

I also follow Spurs, and so far the various media outlets have linked us to over 80 players this summer - ridiculous. Maybe there should be a thread created where all of the various silly rumours regarding Shrewsbury town can be posted just so we can see how ridiculous some of them are and how stupidly high the numbers are?!
