The most telling comment in that interview.
"Managing expectation."

I have no greta wish for a witchhunt but it was poor judgement made worse by excessive defensive that anyone would question his judgement, and a determination not to correct his mistake- well we all make them the trick is to learn from them I suppose

And the bit about working with players, their confidence, etc. Let's hope he can bring back their confidence and perhaps bring on the players we are still not sure about but could be made better by him.

I didn't hear the interview but I think Radio Shropshire have scored a massive own goal today. I was tuned in from 8.30am (for possibly the third time during the school run in a year). This was only because I saw on breakfast tv that the A5 was closed in both directions and I wanted to hear if there was any change to that during our journey. Pretty much everything from the callers live on air (the bloke on a bus that didn't know where he was?) to the general attitude of the presenter were second rate. There was seemingly no control or thought regarding the information given to people who needed to be told what was/ is going on. To then slate the listeners who had tuned in to hear from the Prostar really capped it off. I won't be listening again until the next big local issue that arises and it will be in the vain hope of hearing something useful then.

I would expect to hear a full blown apology from James Bond on behalf of the complete baffoon Hawkins who has no idea how to cope in any way state or fashion .
Completely inept broadcasting and managing to offend many , many listeners in front of the whole of the County .
That should earn Baffon Hawkins a verbal warning from the BBC for his continual condescending remarks to the community he should be supporting .
My suggestion to all B&A users is phone in to officially complain to Radio Shropshire . 01743 248321 .

it wasn't just the fact that he failed to mention the anything to do with the town appointment in the hour and a half i listed for. putting that and his rude irritating comments about us supporters the time was spent: - a long phone call from a man on a bus who didn't know where he was talking about the traffic (how does that help anyone) - phone calls from teachers apparently who were taking school children on day trips and tales about how they were hungry, thirsty, in need of the toilet (again really useful for everyone) - various texters talking about information they had been given by the police, but hawkins said on various occasions that radio shropshire hadn't heard from the police so how could they know if this information was true or not (again totally useless information) - texters talking about how men were relieving themselves off the road (again brilliant). - usual lame songs - took about an hour plus before I actually heard anything from any official about what had happened and where the problem was (i.e. genuine news that was useful to the general public and those in the traffic) - a distinct lack of actually describing where the traffic problems were rather than just saying there were long delays, which would have been helpful for people who may have needed to go out.
Total shambles.
Put in mind that people were stuck in traffic for upwards of 2 hours, just giving them a break from that gibberish by playing the press conference might have been a damn sight more entertaining for them!

I suffered a similar experience of being stuck behind a burning hay lorry on the A55 a few years ago.
Loads of us needed to relieve ourselves..we just went ahead and did so!
