I like the comments on here indicating that it will be the older generation who will be patient and it will be us whipper-snappers who turn on GT at the first sign of things go wrong
Im not going to generalise (as would be as guilty as some of the other posters) but Gay Meadow & the New Meadow have their fair share of old moaners
Personally Id be happy if GT came here (I havent said come back as I unfortunatey missed him first time), however I can understand some people's reluctance. However that reluctance seems to be mainly on the so called rule of " dont go back", rather than any footballing logic

I'm way too young to judge Turner's previous with Shrewsbury. I respect the fact the guy's a legend here and you can see why. But it means less to me than the older members. I feel I'm more "neutral" so to speak about it, and I can see it isn't a step backwards.
He knows the league inside out, he's managed higher up, he'll bring an overall feel good factor, he plays great football, he can use the loan market to great effect, he's recently got out of this league, he's very recently come back to management for the end of the last season and proved he still has it and presumably will have a much more attractive club with more money here to work with - able to bring very good players to the club.
It's forwards not backwards, in my opinion.

Another thing that annoys me is we don't actually know if he's linked to the job or wants the job, been interviewed etc. It was started on here and the Shropshire Star then jumped on it. No one has given me any "footballing logic" as to why it could be him? I don't buy the waiting for his shares to sell story!

I've heard rumours from other sources than this board, and the Sloppy Star has no idea what's really going on outside Telford! I don't know what you mean by footballing logic, but an ex manager who's leaving his current club after Friday, and we're waiting to announce a new management team, it isn't inconceivable to make a connection. Yes I'm a great fan of GT but if it's not him I will be surprised

So why have we interviewed??? When apparently its been a " done deal" for weeks, I don't get that?

So why have we interviewed??? When apparently its been a " done deal" for weeks, I don't get that? Keith said on Shrewsweb they have gone through the interview process 'acting in a professional manner'. Just imagine the uproar on here if they appointed someone without even speaking to anyone else. Then again we have no say in it as it's not up to us to appoint the manager however much we love the club

Yeah but then why waste other managers time by interviewing them when they already know there man, pointless! I still don't buy it

Maybe they interviewed them to see if they were better suited to the job

I keep asking if he is bringing his money with him too? That could also be a factor a feel. I've no idea but I would expect it quite likely - some of it at least

One thought - if you've been a chairman at another club, how would it feel being 'just' a manager at another club and answering to a chairman. Also, what about the argument that GT inherited a quality side from Alan Durban first time around? Has history made him look better than he was? Interesting that BBC Shrops today has Sayfritz saying they are confident they have chosen the right person. So its done then.

Interesting that BBC Shrops today has Sayfritz saying they are confident they have chosen the right person. So its done then. Two things. He is on record as saying he wants another shot at management before he retires which follows that he would be working under another chairman. The other thing about him inheriting the Durban/Barker team has been covered. Yes he did but that same side struggled for a time in the old Second Division. He more or less rebuilt it to a side that finished 9th and then 8th twice(the second time under Chic Bates), our highest league positions ever.

Good points thanks - although I'm not sure that saying/thinking you want to be a manager again, and actually doing it are the same thing. I wonder how it will be when GT wants something and RW has to say no, but GT thinks that he would have said yes had he been chairman.

Looking back that was a very brave move which came off spectacularly. Get shut of your best players from a team who were giving their all just to survive at a higher level, bring in a load of kids and a couple of other teams reserves and turn that into an even better team despite losing something like the first 6 games of the season. Brilliant. Do half as good a job with the current team and promotion is on the cards I feel this season

The way I look at it is that we had an in-experienced manager when he was first here who carried on the good work of Durban and Barker.
Now we are getting a very experienced manager who has enjoyed success at Wolves and Hereford.
Forward step for me.
