I apologise if this subject has already been raised but I've been out of circulation for a month and haven't had time to catch up on previous posts. We all hope that we are in a play-off position come the end of the season, and despite our pretty dismal offerings of late,I believe we will be. However, on contemplating our chances in the said shake-up,I couldn't help but noticing our "form" against the 5 Big Guns. It makes for pretty dismal reading:
P9 W2 D2 L5 F11 A14 Pts8 (from a poss 27)and that's with a game outstanding against Chester.
Whilst not wishing to pee on the potatoes, and realizing that play-off games are one-offs, it doesn't fill you with a great deal of optimism.

It was interesting looking at the goal difference from those stats you put up duncower, minus 3, which means that none of the top 5 have battered us, although you have to take into account the Herefodd 4-1 result. I think the play offs will be mostly about nerve, the players and the fans, i think we wcan have a big part to play come the end of April.

Was that a cliche.
Think your absolutely right Duncow, it is dismal. We havent got the bottle for it. Just hope we "strike it lucky" .
I honestly feel that when the seasons over and the post mortam starts at GM, quinn realises that his biggest challenge is not going to be sighning arty farty skillfull players, who can do fancy flicks and all that, but players who can pass, control and shoot accurately, the basics. The other thing he has got to do is build team spirit and a sence of pride and passion.

If we did make the play offs gawd help my nerves i think i'll have to blag some of that gas and air, that stuff should calm me down remember having a canister of that when i broke my leg. Anyone elses optimism going schizo after the Barnet game i was confident we'll do it, then after the Exeter game the old doubt crept in, there doesnt seem to be any middle ground with my optimism/pessimism?. Now im worried about the game tomorrow Telford have had all these kick in teeth moments latley wether financial or Football wise that i have this nagging feeling they'll beat us. Anyway if we did make the play offs i'd fancy taking our chances on Chester or Hereford that whould mean us finishing 5th and having to play the 1st leg at home. As Chester or Hereford might still be in a bout of self-pity that they didnt get promoted as champions and maybe we could take advantage of whichevers dissapointed.

I would like to disagree with you but having thought long and hard i cannot. I wrote early in the season after the game at chester and barnet at home that i did not think we had what it against the better teams in the league. Also i made referance to the run in and the danger of missing out, i was told at that time rightly so to hang back, the town would improve. We are now six months on town have not improved i am worried when you consider the last few games telford, farnborough, chester, stevenage, gravesend, if we play like saturday, i cannot see us getting more then five points. We are in danger of missing the play offs, how i wish we had the confidance exeter showed on saturday in the last 10 mins.
Heres hoping for a win tues, and hopfully the play offs but i can see the mighty shrews still being in the conferance next year.

Hopefully after tomorrow we can start looking towards the play offs.
Then there will be only one team to worry about, not the opposition but whether Town want it enough.
My feeling is we will get in the play offs but will not make the final.
Come on you Blues, prove me wrong
