I know we have a game or two in hand but looking at Chesters sequence of matches after Stevenage on Saturday (they play all the bottom teams) I reckon they will be out of sight of us come February. They have been pretty consistent all season and although I would fancy us to beat them at home, I fear that we are already scrapping for a play-off place realistically:(

I think the general feeling amongst us Chester fans is that this is the time to open up a gap at the top because if we dont do it now our run in to the end of the season is very very tough.
From memory I think we play the all the leading contenders in our last six games of the season.
This time last season we pressed the self destruct button and we never came near to catching Yeovil after being at the most a couple of points adrift at best for the first 22 games.
Intrestingly Chester have amassed more points this season than Yeovil did at the same stage last year.
Will you catch us?
Time will tell but if you fall any further behind than eleven points then I think you will have missed the boat. That does not mean that Chester will win the league just I dont think Shrewsbury will.

Their next few games should give them quite a few points, unless they slip up (fingers crossed)

I believe that it's right in Chester's hands now.
If they can win the majority of the matches that BillBo has listed, and open up a 7-10 point gap, they go well go unchallenged before winning the title.
If on the otherhand, the bunch of teams tightens up by 1 January (and for this to happen, we need 4 wins out of 5 games), then I still wouldn't like to predict anything.
If I had to put money on, it would be Hereford or Chester to win it, with us, Exeter and Barnet joining the runners-up in the play-offs.

Have to say from what I herd about Leigh and what I saw at tamworth, both these teams are quite physical and lump it around like the best of them at home.
Might not be easy by all means.

Always said that if we can finish above Chester we won't have had a bad season.
Can we catch them? Yes.
Will we? Only if they faulter significantly - which does not seem likely at the moment.

No one can put their hand on heart and say who will win this league at this time. Anything can, and will happen before April.

I think we have a better squad than Chester, and better by a fair margin too.
That said, Chester have the experience of trying to win this league and have a settled squad and fairly settled side, they are likely to be more consistent than us as a result
I just can't see us being consistent enough to compete for more than a playoff place

I think chester will take some stopping, the only way the shrews will catch them is if chester slip up and we get the consistant winning steak. Not giving up easy goals and losing daft points, i belive it will be between chester and barnet for the title, with town if we are lucky in the play offs??

Interesting topic. I think my fellow supporter of CCFC was correct when he said that this time last year Chester blew their chances of winning this league and we let Yeovil get too far ahead. We will have learnt from that experience and at Halifax on Saturday many of us felt we actually looked like champions elect. I'd have settled for the 'other' route last season but not this time. The STFC supporter who said that CCFC have the experience of this league is absolutely spot on, this league is not the 'cakewalk' that we thought it was going to be in our first season in it. Don't under estimate some of the teams that you come up against, you are one of the big boys in this league and it only serves to motivate the other teams to see the expectations of some of your supporters (the same thing happened to us). I think that it is a playoff place for you at best and by the time you avenge our victory at the deva (if it happens ) we should be too far ahead for it to make any difference. In the meantime good luck as I'm sure it won't be too long before you are back in the football league.

Yes and no Any more results like today's and we could be worrying more about who could catch us in the chase for the top 5 positions, any dark horses from the pack anyone worried about?

Burton seem to be doing well at the moment, and I think if Telford on their day can be very useful. But I still think there are only 6 teams in it.

I've seen the Town win promotion on a few occasions since I started going to watch them
The common factors on each occasion have been a fairly settled side and settled tactics
We haven't really seen either this season so far and some have quite rightly asked if Quinn really knows what his best XI is
It's not impossible to win promotion without these factors but I think it's less likely
