Is it me or does it seem that anyone Quinn goes for he gets? apart from Hartswell which was out of his hands, any player we have known he has had an interest in he has signed. of course there are players that we dont know about, but any which are "in the know" have signed.

And we get a nice little away trip to Radcliffe borough in the pre season.
I like the thanks for all the support thing on that home page - they seem like a vary freindly club. Although Banin dont look a thing like i though he would (a podgey in one picture) but hell his record speaks for its self. Welcome to the club!!

From his looks he reminds me of John McGinlay when he signed from Elgin City..he was a gamble that paid off

Welcome to Salop Jody.
I was thinking exactly the same thing JP. Quinny always seems to get his man.
So far: Howie, Tinno, Ridler, Sedge, Rioch?, Potter, O'connor, Street, Cramb, Darby, & (Banim). I've no doubt missed someone.
Looking at that, is it any wonder we are so inconsistent?

JP, you've been reading my posts on confguide An exciting signing no doubt and it'll be interesting to see how he makes the step up I'd like to think we could ease the lad in gently with a couple of reserve games and a couple of apperances from the bench but I fear that a Rodgers deal is much closer than we think! Filling Rodgers' boots is an very big ask for the lad, we musn't expect too much too soon

I asked the same question a week or so ago - no, he's the son apparently.
A good signing, and best wishes to Luke

Terribly optimistic but we have been good at buying part time non-league strikers.

Just in case you need any other supporting evidence for lower league forwards....Reading have signed two notable ones in the past from Dunstable Town and Dorcester Town respectively. Their names.....Kerry Dixon and replacing Dixon when he left for Chelsea, Trevor Senior. Both were signed by someone else connected to The Shrews and Royals...Maurice Evans .

I remember Dave Waller. He always used to jump up for a cross just before or just after the ball arrived. He was a bit of a laughing stock at the time and a let down on the Trevor Birch scale

Just to think we said Waller from a bottom of the football League club. I think the biggest disapointment for a striker has to be John Dungworth, all that money and to think what he was doing at Aldershot.

Ref Waller. We did indeed sign from Crewe when they were in the old 4th and we were in the 2nd(How times have changed). The point I was drunkingly making was he scored for fun in the 4th, but struggled with the step up to the 2nd. Just hope Banim can do a job at a slightly higher level.

Waller came back to haunt us a while later when he played for Chesterfield at the Meadow and they knocked us out of the FA Cup, I think they were in a lower league than the Town at the time, Town lost 2-3 if I remember correctly?

Eddie Loyden from Chester had to be the biggest let down. Big money and Eric Brodie (Tiger) went to Chester, and we got a tall lump of bones, scoring three or four goals; he too scored for fun at Chester. Over the years we do seem to have managed to ruin a few players....bring on Jock Fulton I say....Ricky Moir, Bobby Ross, Eric Brodie, George Boardman, Lew Thom(!), Ross Mclaren, Mike Kearney, Sammy Irvine, Poorly Maguire, et al.

Kearney could certainly play at Reading - and in all positions! Must be the Shropshire air! ...Come to think of it....Smithy was getting worse the longer he stayed!
