In the light of Shrewsbury's imminent signing of Jodie Banim what could we expect to get for Luke now? If he does leave us that is?

For a high price there are the
Pros
Good track record Young Crew and others need a forward Not at the end of his contract Probaby thinks he owes us something for helping his carrer
Cons
Currently in poor form Currently a Conference Player We would take any resonable offer (unsettled at the club) Would probably like to play for a club nearer Bimingham
I reckon that we will get £400,000 or less

It all depends on how much Crewe get off Wolves for Ashton.
I reckon we'll get 150k up front max plus appearance related stuff and sell-on fees.

Interesting final bit of JQs inteview in the Star about wages,Softening the blow about Luke? .In my book £5OO.000 and a sell on clause, anything less is a bargin -basement sale.

£250k tops + sell on clause.
Interesting to see Quinn say that we had gone over our budget but if rumours are to believed about Rodgers financial package with us then there could be a bitof scope to bring in others......preferably centre half.

No doubt in my mind that hes off too.
I wish him all the best; we'll be lucky to see more than 250k up front for him. Hopefully the board will load up on sell ons, appearance clauses.

It's very interesting to see how views have changed since this question was asked around the time of the Crewe offer, a matter of only a few months ago
Back then the vast majority were talking in terms of £750,000 or even £1million!
I'd say a package worth around £350,000 wouldn't be far off the mark in terms of a reasonable deal, but I think the club will sell for less, probably as little as £200,000
Tolley is more valuable in my opinion, he's long since been our most biggest asset in my opinion

No dought Rodgers will improve as a player and Crewe may be the place to prove it,there are a few areas in his game to improve, but Crewe may sell him on after a short period of time to a bigger club ,the sell-on clause is vital or once again we will be seen as letting a talent go for little money.

Yes Iam sure Luke will be gone before too long Hope he is around for the Telford game though A goal or two against them would be a great leaving present from him to us

Luke is off to Cardiff when the transfer window opens to allow Earnshaw to go to Newcastle Suprised by everybodies acceptance that he is leaving us. Very short memories and what were the reasons why ticket prices are the highest in the conference again?

Cardiff isnt a bad bet if Earnie does goto Newcastle. I can't see Crewe signing him as an Ashton replacement, Ashton is quite a big lad...they would severley be lacking in height i'd take anything over £180K, even with suitable sell ons etc, i guess we wouldnt see much more than half upfront ? One Jody Banim

Luke is off to Cardiff when the transfer window opens to allow Earnshaw to go to Newcastle Suprised by everybodies acceptance that he is leaving us. Very short memories and what were the reasons why ticket prices are the highest in the conference again? The reasons for us having higher ticket prices were to keep hold of our good young players. If Rodgers does or doesn't go, i think the signings of Darby and Banim, both cash deals are a sign that the board are trying to put things right. Also, Tinson, Street, Cramb, Howie and O'Connor are all ex-league players and wages are more important than transfer fees just now We are standing in Luke Rodgers way to keep him. With hindsight we should have sold him to Crewe in the summer. He is a truly great player, the best we've had in ten years, and we owe it to him to give him the chance at a higher level. Rodgers gave his all last year when other players had long since shirked their responsibility to our football club. I can only hope luke goes on to become a huge success and I wish him all the best. As for Banim, welcome to Salop, this is your chance to go pro and prove yourself and we're 100% behind you.

Good post TBH, your spot on about us holding him back, I reckon he would stay with if we were in Division 3 The problem with conference football in terms of Lukey's play is that the pitches are to small and the football is to ugly for his style. Give him lots of space to run it to and he's a happy lad but it's now time for him to move (but he can stay if he wants to )

No way is he a replacement for Ashton. He is too much like Steve Jones, their other striker.
I hadn't thought of Cardiff, but if he does go to them we might see more money.
Anything over £300,000-£350,000. Am not sure why people are raving about sell ons, because we've never got anything out of them before, and the reason Luke's so cheap is because no one is willing to pay decent money for young English players. I'd have thought a tierd scheme whereby we get add ons dependant upon the amount of games he plays and the goals he score, also extra payments if Crewe stay up.
Good luck to the lad. he's the best I've ever seen at the Meadow. A true STFC legend.

Am not sure why people are raving about sell ons, because we've never got anything out of them before because if he does become this great million pound premiership striker then I want 10% of that at least! Just because we haven't done it before shouldn't prevent us this time
