What great, great news!! Or is it .... he may be back? :-( Please no!!!!! Not the lad's fault that we asked him to come here - but deep down he must have known he wasn't any good anymore (if he ever was any good?) - so he was conning us slightly. How on earth have we managed to offload him? No-one from Wimbledon can have seen any of his performances for us that's for sure. Was it his ball control, his vision, his hold up play, his dribbling, his shooting, his powerful well directed heading, link up play or just that he is a total goal machine which attracted them. Very definately the worst striker I have ever seen in a Town shirt - and I have seen a few bad ones. I agree with Jamo about his true level. Getting rid is a good sign though - maybe with a decent pre-season, and that is a super start, we may yet achieve something this season. Wandered how long you'd be, Pete

I hope he does well and comes back more confident. As with Hibbert, Dunfield, McIntyre, Fortune West etc, he may well just bite you gobs**tes on the arse, not that many of you would atmit to making a mistake. too busy finding fresh blood to get stuck into. ;D

Elder should have been given a bit more time.
Him and Bright could have formed a lethal strike partnership after a prolonged run of starts.

Everyone has an opinion, which is fair enough. I'm a bit disappointed with some of the comments, but at the end of the day, he's gone. He's a London lad, so I hope he settles back there.

What an utter waste of money.
If this was any other walk of life whoever instigated and/or sanctioned the purchase would be looking at new vocation, or at the very least a serious curtailing of responsibility...

Good luck Nathan. Hope the move works for him. By the sounds of it he may well be warming the bench for most of his time there however. Their 1st choice target man has bagged 17 already this season and I think Elder has been brought in as cover. So may not be the best move for Nathan as the lad desperately need games. You would have to wonder what % of wages a conference club would pay for a back up striker? Got a feeling we may not be freeing up as much £££ as we would hope.
Will be interesting to see how Simmo reacts next season when the deal ends. Will Elder be welcomed back to the fold because he's a Simmo signing or will he be cut adrift like Constable was?

Do you mean to say that the length of contract was out of Simpson's control? If so, that would be a strange way to run things, wouldn't it? I assume you mean the esteemed Bickerton was the clown reponsible for the contract length

Are you implying / telling us that Elder's signing was nothing to do with Simmo - i.e., Simmo did not select him as a player he wanted or needed .... but that the decision was made elsewhere in the club?

I assume you mean the esteemed B............was the clown reponsible for the contract length Who sorted this contract? It can't have been B....... B......... left 29/7/09 and Elder signed 4/8/09 after having been at the club for 3 days for fitness tests/medicals.

I have deleted my original post as life is too short to live under threats of being taken to court by men in pin striped suits.
I have opened up a can of worms when my reply was to simply one specific point and others have gone on tangents.
This stuff is pub debate, not published in written word on a public forum.
