After going to the Telford/Canvey Island match at the Duck Shed yesterday, I know where my "home" is. Yes, it's a neat little ground- but it just didn't feel right. Meadow is "home" - I'm into ambience and atmoshpere-and Gay Meadow fells right for me. The kids enjoyed the match whatever- but I can't wait to get back to the Meadow! Met some good people. A couple directed us to the "away stand" - thinking we were Canvey supporters- but I explained that we were really "Shrews"- showing a bit of support for Telford in it's hour of need- and they said how thoughtful that was, and how good we were- and we could in with them!!! I couldn't really get involved in the game in the same way- I need to be "emotionally involved" with a team.l I liked Naylor- 'coz I like little "Jack Russell" type of guys- what they lack in size they make up for by being like a tough little terrier!! (I'm married to one like that!!! )

I would describe the atmo at NBH as "plastic"

That's it, TOAO, you've described it well!! They say "Plazzy" in Liverpool. It's a plazzy stadium: neat , but no atmosphere. Did you read Leah's comments on the youth board- about the sand? We laughed our heads off- there's so much sand, that it spills over onto the terraces- and little Alexander, when he got board, was filling up an empty "Tango" bottle with it!! We said we should have brought his bucket and spade! Loos are not bad, though. Had to take the little fella to the Ladies with me- you daren't let little 'uns go to the Gents on their own, these days, really. 99% of the time, they'd be O.K- but you can't risk it.

I'll get a real bo%%ocking for saying this but show me a new "subbuteo" stadium at lower league level that hasnt got a "plazzy" atmosphere. No nothing will compare to Gods back Garden and never will. Yes I might be a grumpy old git but with a bit of luck I will be watching from the clouds when we are playing at "The New Meadow".

You are right Wiggy- I have been to only a few non-Shrews games and it has never quite been the same as watching the blue and amber: Home is where the heart is
