Have decided to go by train saturday. Need to have some alcohol before the game starts to numb the pain Anyone else taking this option? If so what time are people aiming to get there and any specific pubs that will be attended?

Personally i would avoid any pubs to near to Edgar Street, esp if you are wearing a Shrewsbury shirt. Try the other end of town so like Wetherspoons and Litten Tree instead of New Market and JD's, where traditionally trouble has kicked off with other fans.

Out of the station, turn right and in 100 yards on your right is a Ten pin bowling alley / pub which serves good beer and decent food. Usually lots of totty in! A taxi from there to edgar street about 2.30 is a good bet

I,m not going to recommend anywhere in particular as I dont usually drink in the City centre but having one or two in Leominster on the way through might be an option or the Starting Gate the Travel Lodge on the first main island as you enter the Hereford outskirts.
Incidentally , I dont know who HFDshrew is in this thread but it's not me so if it kicks off in those Pubs dont blame me !

yeh, avoid the centre of Hereford esp JDs and Imperial sort of area, where traditionally its all kicked off. TGS bowling sounds like a good bet, as its unlikely that many HFD fans will venture to that part of the city. Should be lots of Police anyway. Come on the Shrews.

In Commercial Road you have The Kings Fee (Weatherspoons), O'Neils, The Litten Tree. These pubs have been told by local Police that they will not be allowed to open their doors until the match has actually started. I can't say what arrangements the other pubs in the area have made.
Hope this helps.

Personally speaking I would avoid any pubs in or near the City. I'm fed up with the pseudo hatred that some people are continually try to drum up between HUFC and STFC. As far as I'm concerned you are most welcome to ES and Hereford and I hope you enjoy the atmosphere but not the result! I was there at GM when you stuffed us 4-1 but so what? you were much better on the day, simple. However you travel, have a safe journey and see you Saturday!

Lots of police eh? Lets hope it doesn't bankrupt you like it has our other neighbours!!! Shame it wasn't Chester so Hereford/Shrews could once again become a league fixture! ;D

Hereford V Shrewsbury as a league fixture?, only a matter of time in my opinion.
I don't think you'll be in this league for very long, perhaps another season at the most, we've seen what you are capable of (still hurts!) and lets face facts you have the resources. Next year could be a cracker for you lot.

I the train down to Cardiff the other day, and the opportunity to ask about train travel to Hereford on Saturday. Apparently they are laying on 3 extra trains for people to get to the game.
