Congrats – you’ve exposed yourself as a bitter fan with a tremendous ignorance over our history. The aim inst to be some billionaires plaything, rather a sustainable club operating out of its own means but you’d rather sit their foaming at the mouth in envy…..Last year I was envious of teams like you, teams with more money ‘buying’ success, we could never lure Holt in the mess we were in. We couldn’t find 10k to replace some seats in one of our stands….I started supporting notts when they were in the top division (now prem). And have seen our fall from grace. We’ve had it a lot harder than you. Yes I admire your business model – I wish we could apply it here but we couldn’t. It was either accept Munto’s dream bid or die….thats the truth – no-one else was willing to invest steadily and sensibly – we had one season left tops. Ask anyone involved in the club – including former secretaries and directors. Most of our fans don’t know what the internet is lol, so to say we are all sitting on forums spewing hatred is nonsense – I came on here to show you some of th ridiculous rumours that were being spread out of our control. We have all dreamed about a wild takeover and getting promoted….but no-one at this level thought it possible…..now…..we have shown it is possible to attract investment – even at our level. Good luck to you Shrewsbury – I don’t like to see teams buy success but according to you we’re dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t. Either burn and fail, or ‘buy’ success – though I would like to point out you were one of the wealthiest clubs in the division last year and if you drew a graph of affluence against league position they pretty much correlated exactly…..nothing new mate.

I know little about the financial side of football, but I always notice teams struggling for money normally go into administration, then work their way back up, ie Bournemouth, Rotherham, they didn't die and now they're up there to win the league! They didn't moan like b!tches then go and gloat, you haven't worked your way out of this, you've had a stroke of good fortune, don't take it for granted.

I hope you don’t think we’re all cocks - if you've suffered like we have - nearly being relegated to conference year in year out for the best part of 4 seasons We went to the conference Welcome to league two Welcome to league two Welcome to league two Then why are your fans on other club's messageboards gobbing off about how much money you have to spend and how our players are signing for you? I am not envious of you. I do not want middle eastern millions. You will probably be in administration within five years, and whatever success you have in the mean time just cost you your soul. You have not won anything yet. What is there to be envious of? Our business model is pretty robust thanks. We know our potential and we are working towards it. Yes our media handling is at times inappropriate but that's not the fans fault is it? ...i hope people come to see us as a symbol of hope for those in the lower leagues. All the best NCFC fans are all over messageboards winding people up now you have so much money. What "hope" is it you have? When the money runs dry it is game over for you. Whatever you win people will say "it is just the money" so you can't win either way. You are either rich failures or you have bought success. So you know where you can stick that olive branch!! Generally surprised with some of the reactions on here. How many Notts fans have been on here giving it the big one? All I’ve seen is a couple of wind ups and considering the complete over reaction they get off Town fans on here who can blame them…

The one or two on all the different boards are probably been the same couple of people.

I do take on board some of that. If this new consortium builds the business model that maintains success then fair play to you. But look at the initial poster on this thread. Not all are as balanced as you.

Just been listening to an interview with guy from Radio Nottingham on 5 Livesaying that Sven announcement is being made tomorrow and that there will be several big name signings in the next two weeks. The aim is for County to be in Championship within 5 years.
Bet their odds shorten.

I would personally drive him there in a rickshaw with no wheels. Technically do you drive a rickshaw ? I believe they are pulled by an individual. Then again I know the mechanical ones are called "Phut Phuts" but I have no idea what the ones are that have a bloke peddling at the front ?

I’ll defo be having a few bob on McParland being the first 4th division manager to be sacked. I don’t doubt that success will come Notts County’s way but there is no way that’s going to work with McParland, Eriksson and Grip. It’ll end in tears that with Sven stepping in once the current manager has been shifted out. Too many cooks and all that malarkey. So expect a slow start to the season at Meadow Lane...

Presumably they will have to keep within the wage cap. Are there ways that it can be circumvented?

Presumably they will have to keep within the wage cap. Are there ways that it can be circumvented? Well, it's based on turnover isn't it? So increase that somehow - put ticket prices up? I assume they wouldn't see an increase until the accounts are published though...

Its a bit of a fairy story for Notts Co indeed a rags to riches scenario, good luck to them I hope it works out for them of course they do need to make some decent signings to do a Man City and climb the league to promotion by buying big , so I would not be shocked if Holt is approached and subject to the monies offered it will be hard for our board to refuse.....
We would all be disappointed but hey thats life it will depend then on Simmos ability to bring capable players in to replace Grant, an ability the jury is still out on

2m is probably not far off their total player wage bill I would guess!!
The key advantage of Sven will be the players he can attract just as a statement of intent. If I was Ben Davies and during contract talks they said 'we're talking to Sven' you would be impressed. A bit like when City went for Kaka, it showed others they meant business (and more importantly to the modern player were splashing the cash!)
But, I doubt whether Sven will be able to pick the right players for County hence why Director is probably the right move. (1) As someone said above they have a budget to operate within so can't sign mega-bucks player, (2) Presumably Grip and Sven's scouting list did not include players suitable to get you out of League 2! That's probably why they need McParland - who should we sign to get promoted. Holt would probably be on that list somewhere.
I would also question whether Sven/Grip have the right tactical experience for league 2.....
