Four days a week, I drive past "Strawberry Fields" - John Lennon's inspiration for his famous song, "Strawberry Fields for Ever." What's it like? Scruffy- litter-strewn, fairly ornate gateway to a now-demolished children's home in suburban Liverpool. Tourists from all over the world get off The Magical Mystery Tour bus and queue to have their photos taken in front of it. It got me thinking- If you were famous- what childhood haunt would YOU like to immortalise in song? Growing up in Market Drayton- I suppose I'd go for Little Heath Green- a wood on my friend's father's farmland- and the Aquaduct steps (but I can't think of a good rhyme for "steps"!! "Let me take you there, 'coz I'm going to- Little Heath Green- You won't be seen, Hiding in the undergrowth- Little Heath Green for ever!" And, to rival "Penny Lane" there's always Shrewsbury Road!! In Shrewsbury Road we queued for Fish and Chips on Satturday, And then they wrapped them in a copy of the news, It was an offer you could not refuse- When you had the blues- Shrewsbury Road is in my ears and in my eyes Da, da,da,da,da,da,da- Underneth a bright blue Shropshire Sky!! (I don't think I'll put Market Drayton on the map, somehow!! )
